The hardback front and back cover of this book have stamped scrolling around the perimeter. Gold lettering on front and spine. Edges are worn and outer spine has damage. (see pictures) Upon opening the book, one can see the binding has separated from the spine and pages are loose. All pages are present and in good shape. The edges are a bit frayed, but no folding or torn pages; no writing in book except for the first page where some writing (a price) is in pencil. This book, written by Altdorfer, includes 40 pictures of his wood engravings, edited by Alfred Aspland, F.R. Hist. S. and includes an introduction by William Bell Scott. Published for the Holbein Society.A great, yet very fragile book for the collector!!
