Contains 259 pp., 17 b&w illustrations, small few very small holes in front joint, dust jacket is chipped at edges and missing about 3/4" at the top of spine (affecting "The" and "Fi" in Fifth). A fairly obscure title and unusual to find with a dust jacket. Jerome D. Travers, an amateur from the Upper Montclair (N.J.) Country Club, followed in the footsteps of the legendary Francis Ouimet. Travers, already having won the amateur four times by 1913, achieved his long-term ambition in the U.S. Open by playing the last six holes in one under par to beat Tom McNamara by a stroke and capture the 1915 National Championship held at the Baltusrol (N.J.)
