Description:
Farrar's First Moosehead Lake Guide

Thompson describes this first of Farrar's Moosehead guides as "exceptionally scarce." While the title describes the guide as "with a New and Correct Map of the Lake Region," it is not clear that such a map actually accompanied the guide. The OCLC record for the Guide Book does not make reference to a map in the description, and Thompson states that this 1878 edition did not include a map. The present example does not contain a map. In any case, a very uncommon Moosehead item.
References: Williamson, Bibliography of Maine: 3265. See Thompson, Important Maine maps, Books…: 315 for Farrar's second Moosehead guide.
Condition: Printed wrappers, stained. Front wrapper and paper spine nicely conserved. No map. Internally sound.
