Description:
London: Ward and Lock. London, Ward and Lock, n.d. [1857]. First Edition. First Impression. Hardback. A near fine copy. Uncommon. One of Russell's detective works (he published detective fiction under the name Waters), seemingly less common than the earlier Quorum title Recollections of a Detective Police Officer (we can find no sales). Rebound, probably relatively recently, in half calf. Block a little toned, but internally very nice overall. [9511, Hyraxia Books]. n.d. [1857] . Near Fine. Hardback. 1st Edition. 1857.

Description:
No Place [Australia?]: No Publisher. No Place [Australia?], No Publisher, 1885. Manuscript. Paperback. Very good condition. An original manuscript and a lovely production. A 146pp typed manuscript poem. Extra-illustrated without with cutout printed pieces throughout. Garvey seems to have emigrated to Australia, and a note near the start states the original of this poem was lost, but returned by Lady Winchelsea - presumably the present item was a copy of that one. Additional typed and holograph poems to the rear. In nice condition, just a little worn to the covers. Large tear to the lower spine. [10188, Hyraxia Books]. . Very Good. Paperback. Manuscript. 1885.

Description:
London: Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge. London, Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge, n.d. [1907]. First Edition. First Impression. Hardback. A very good copy. An uncommon lost race novel. Inscribed by the author 'To my dear daughter Evelyn with love Harry Collingwood, 1912'. The book also bears Collingwood's ownership inscription to the front endpaper requesting borrowers to return it. A wonderful association (though I'm struggling to think of a reason, beyond a forgotten birthday, which he would gift his daughter one of his own books five years after the publication that he's habitually lent to others). The book is bound in what I would call blue cloth, though others might say green. David Aronovitz has the green cloth as being the first issue. I'm not sure whether this copy counts as that - I've seen greener copies and a red variant. The edges are bevelled too. That said, I don't think it really matters here. Some softening to the spine tips and a… Read More

Description:
Dublin: G. Faulkner. Dublin, G. Faulkner, 1761. First edition, first impression. Hardback. A good copy. First Dublin edition. An imaginary voyage, ala Gulliver, and a taproot for science fiction, proto sf if you like. An important work, presaging television and still photography in a manner; as important to the history of photography as to science fiction. An important book. There was a London edition too, dated 1761 on the first part's title page, and 1760 on the second part. The Dublin issue has 1761 on both title pages. That doesn't tell us much about which precedes. Contemporary calf, heavily rubbed and worn. The endpaper has an inkstain, with a collector's plate to the front pastedown. Prelims have some waterstaining, but not too bad, similar to the last few leaves. A nice copy overall. [10491, Hyraxia Books]. . Good. Hardback. 1st Edition. 1761.

New York: Knopf. New York, Knopf, 1930. First Edition. First Impression. Hardback. A very good copy. No jacket. An early example of a superman book. Indeed, there's been a lot of talk about this being the inspiration for Superman given the bullet-proof skin, super speed etc. This influence was never confirmed though. Spine a touch toned, endpapers foxed, top edge dusty. There appears to have been an endpaper removed, though there is a further endpaper still. [9923, Hyraxia Books]. . Very Good.
