Amiens, Caron-Vitet, n.d. (beginning nineteenth century, circa 1820). 117, (iii) pp. Original paper binding. (some browning). (binding a bit rubbed & damaged).A very interesting and unusual specimen of an (early?) nineteenth century binding in paper that imitates a leather binding. In the back of the book we find a list of 'Livres ... reliés en basane artificielle...' with their prices (1 page) as well as a one page list of other books available. Caron-Vitet was active in Amiens as a publisher, printer, type founder and stationer.

Tiraboschi (1731 - 1794) produced 13 volumes of his Storia della letterature italiana, covering the origin and development of literature and the sciences from Etruscan times to 1700; an erudite and learned scholar, he was a bit long-winded, and Landi"s abridgment has much to recommend it.
