Description:
Philadelphia: n.p., 1960. Near fine.. Stirring series of photographs captured by a skilled photographer documenting the many diverse aspects of an operation involving a probable heart-lung ("H.L.") bypass. Almost fifty carefully composed images of an undisclosed operation, but one almost certainly involving a heart-lung bypass. More than a dozen OR personnel are visible. Images include close-ups of the operation, wider shots of the larger theater, and several individual portraits on the doctors and nurses involved. The careful documentation of the event suggest an important moment, but a lack of additional context makes it difficult to say more. Nevertheless, a moving series of images that read like a photobook. 3.75" x 6" Five Eastman Kodak 'Album Prints' booklets in yellow wraps, with a maroon metal 'clip' spine. Housing 47 3-1/4" x 4-1/4" B&W gelatin silver photographs: Booklets show some general signs of use. Photographs clear & sharp. Some prior owner annotations to verso.
