THEY appear to be black thin hard cloth with gold lettering and decoration. Edgar did not get critical acclaim but he got loud acclaim from the radio listeners. What began on a small local radio station to fill some time with a couple of poems, propel Edgar to a national audience. These books only have credit to him and only him. And looking thru these he was a poet of different styles, and subjects. A few poems here and there have pencil underlinings, the paper is the thin, bonded type. And each copy has an index in the rear. Mostly over 175 pages and the index extra pages. I bought these for my Great Grandkids aged 6,4,2 and 1. In hopes, one or more will expand their minds and maybe write songs that will enrich their pockets. I have plenty of books so if these sell maybe the money will do them better

I don't think they have been read...

Please see all the photos for real details. I bought this thinking it was something else and got a full refund, so either the money will go to charity or split with other seller. I show all the info on the book, no tricks. what u see is what u get. I sell this book without the so call dustjacket which is a bad copy and missing the front inside flap, being sold as one without a dustjacket(as it should be). BUT the book of any early printing is hard to come by and should be in someones collection of 1st editions.

HARPERS 1935 OATMEAL CLOTH WITH BLUE BOXES,THIS IS THE STATED FIRST EDITION,IT HAS SOILING, A SMALL WATER STAIN TOP SPINE ON THE REAR,BRUISED SPINE ENDS,PREVIOUS OWNERS NAME 1ST LEAF, SEMI CRACKED HINGE AT THE MAIN TITLE PAGE,AGE TONED PAGE ENDS.HUMP THE LENGTH OF THE SPINE. i KNOW IT SOUNDS TERRIBLE,BUT ITS A GOOD COPY AND NICE CANDIDATE FOR RECOVERING.

There is a remainer mark across top page ends and a dot bottom. Defects include a stupid stamp 1st leaf black ink(store) and a 1.15 in red ink. Inscribed by Author, Main Title Page, "To Heather- My First Novel...and his large Signature" isn't that cool. There is wear, bent top corner. Factory defect causing the book to have a thumb cease across the back cover, only notice it holding it. It may have been read once. Rubbing to the ends of the covers. Part of a collection search authors name for the rest.

A book collection observation: unless a book's content has been changed 10% or more, or if an introduction has changed(like added by someone else), the edition stays the same, so saying the book is a first edition does not say when it was acturally printed, but this publisher has a 2 letter code. The code for this book F-T translated to May-1970 making it a LATER PRINTING/unknown printing. this DJ: is a second state with 1969 Pulitzer Prize Novel on the inside flap. Signed by Author by way of laying inside a signed leaf from another of his books,this one is the 1st title page that remained the same in House Made of Dawn, but it is inscribed to Caroline which can be cut down by new owner and affixed anyway you choose.BOOK: is unread tightness,light lean,a touch of fading to the very edges,no markings,spine ends are Bruised not bumped,corners square. DJ: is 2nd state as discussed already,there are a few small tears,light browning to the edges,price intact,light scratches.
