Doylestown, Pennsylvania, November 1948", with an autograph note from Smith laid in, dated 26 March 1949. The recipient was Jon Wynne-Tyson (1824-2020), author, publisher, pacifist, and founder of the Centaur Press. His mother, the actress, writer, and philosopher Esmé Wynne-Tyson (1898-1972), was a close friend of Smith, and collaborated with their mutual friend Noel Coward on several plays. The note is written on the verso of a change-of-address card, marking Smith's move from Doylestown, Pennsylvania, where this title was written, to 1006 Cove Way, Beverly Hills, California. The first and last draft manuscripts for a published short story, given by Fitzgerald as a gift to his obliging young typist Two original drafts, the first draft and the second and final draft, for Fitzgerald's short story "I Didn't Get Over", written in summer 1936 and published in Esquire magazine that October. The most noticeable differences between the two drafts are at the beginning and end of the piece. The title is slightly changed: in the first draft, it is "I Never Got Over"; in the second, that is amended in manuscript to "I Didn't Get Over". In the story, a former army captain who failed to make it to the front in the First World War confesses his responsibility for a training-camp accident that claimed the lives of several soldiers. Bethlehem, PA: , 1947. Superb, scarce poster from the very outset of Rich's solo career. A musical prodigy on Broadway at two years old with his parents' act Wilson and Rich, he found fame under the sobriquet "Baby Traps the Drum Wonder". Rich was with Tommy Dorsey either side of brief military service, before forming this first band with financial assistance from Frank Sinatra. The band lasted just a couple of years before Rich returned to his role as one of the most in demand, and most demanding, sidemen in the Big Band world. For this Interfraternity gig at Lehigh, Buddy's Band was paired with Skitch Henderson's outfit. Henderson was best known as a skilful accompanist, able to "re-sketch" a song in any key for a vocalist. He worked with Bing Crosby, Mickey Rooney and Judy Garland, was MD for Frank Sinatra's Light-up Time in the early 50s, he founded the highly successful New York Pops orchestra in 1983 and conducted it until his death in 2005.
