Fielding titles are Tom Jones, (eight etchings) The Adventures of Joseph Andrews (four etchings) and The History of Amelia (eight etchings). The images measure 17 x 11 cm. There are also two engraved portraits of the authors -- Fielding and Smollett. Images are bright and clean. Raised bands, spine gilt decorated in six compartments, rubbing to corners, light front cover stain.

Pyrography or pyrogravure is the free handed art of decorating wood or other materials with burn marks resulting from the controlled application of a heated source. Over 100 images. One of the oldest art form for cultures including Egyptians and some African tribes, "writing with fire" from the Greek pur (fire). The application was popular in the USA from the 1880's through the 1920's. Covers lacking small portions lower left and right corners.
