The News Printing Office, Tidioute, 1897. Good. Jahu Hunter biography, funeral service, memorial address and home reminiscences. From Find a Grave: "Jahu Hunter was born in Limestone Township, Warren County, Pa. and started his career in the timber industry, cutting trees and rafting them to Pittsburgh. He would return from these trips on foot or by steamboat.The partnership of Mabie and Hunter was formed in 1868. Their business was in general merchandising and lumber until 1882. In 1871 he helped start the Tidioute Savings Bank, of which he gradually became the chief owner, and in 1883 he became President of the bank. In 1873 he formed a partnership with H. H. Cummings in the oil business. They were also associated in other holdings such as wheat lands in North Dakota, the Missouri Lumber and Mining Company, and timbering in Missouri.
