Jackson's Oxford Journal was founded by William Jackson, the Oxford University printer, in the early 18th century as a Saturday weekly: it had a distinguished run, being published from May 1753 through to 1928 (by then as the " Oxford Journal Illustrated "). Our issues come from 1868, when the newspaper sold for "3d; stamped 4d) a copy, for which the purchaser received a large broadsheet paper of some 8 pp measuring 25 x 18 inches and densely packed with advertisements, news and notices. The orientation of the newspaper was Conservative.
