Sauk City: Arkham House, 1944. [First Edition]. Fourteen tales comprise this first collection of Whitehead tales published by Arkham House. A wartime publication of even less than usual from Arkham House, at [1559 copies] this is a fairly elusive title. The binding is a dark blue cloth which Arkham House used before they settled on the Holliston Black Novelex which showed fingerprints like crazy. A very good copy, with one corner just nubbed. D.j., is faded at spine as usual, a 1" closed tear at upper l.h., edge, a few snags, but a very presentable copy. A very good tight copy.
