Description:
House Journal 14th Congress, 2nd Session. 1816. Primary feature of interest in all these Journals is the Presidential message at the front of each. In this one James Madison expresses his strong opposition to slavery; reflects on the War of 1812 and many other items of interest. Volume contains much information on the legislative effort directed at the aftermath of the War of 1812. Original marbled boards, leather spine. Front cover is off, back is barely hanging on. Boards show much wear and spine is deteriorating. Text block is sound. Quality of paper is better than usually seen with less foxing. Volume is complete; 566 pages plus 92 pages Index. Owner's signature on title page dated 1859. Has imprints of Tennessee State Historical Society and Tennessee State Library. Not much to look at but quite functional and complete. Please see scans of the book you will receive.

Description:
1950 Falcon Press Limited Edition. Hardcover lacking the fragile acetate dust jacket. Condition is Very Good: small (2 x3 mm) blemish front cover (see image), pencil note of prior bookseller, no other markings or problems. This edition is notable for the excellent illustrations on fine paper. Publisher states this is limited to 2000 copies but there were no copies with limitation pages. Please see images of the book you will receive. An excellent edition of an excellent book. Recommended. Notes: Defoe was 5 years old (in 1665) when the events he describes took place. This is best viewed as history or historical fiction not straight up primary source material. Of course there is an argument about this so feel free to disagree. First edition was published in 1722 as "Memoirs of the Plague." See Furbank 216.

Description:
Second UK edition of Parry's 1819-20 Northwest passage expedition. Issued 1821 from same plates as first edition except for typographical corrections (see Arctic Bibliography #13145). Condition is good or better. 19th century full leather binding, marbled endpapers. The primary condition issue is that the front hinge is starting. Front corners of boards are rubbed; stain on back board. The interior is excellent, the only markings are pencil notes on the list of plates, complete with all plates, some foxing on early pages. Pagination: [8], xxix, half title, 310, half title appendix, clxxix, blanks. All 20 plates and maps present and accounted for. Hill 1311. This is Parry's first book but not his first voyage to the arctic which was 1818. Wonderful plates and maps. Please feel free to inquire. See images of the book you will receive.
