Poweleit describes the unit's training and his daily activities, including his study of the Japanese language & Filipino flora & fauna; then early air attacks by the Japanese and their land invasion, military actions and maneuvers, trouble with illness & malnutrition, then assignment to a hospital for a few weeks, treating the badly wounded and infected, until April 9 when the colonel in charge surrendered the hospital to the Japanese. The new K&G continued operations until 1932, when an appeal for funds to the Illinois Commerce Commission went unanswered. Contains only 9 pages of typescript, including the corporate by-laws, list of share subscribers (B.F. Lyons, C.E. Davis, Albert Schlipf, L.M. Irving, S.J. Bowles), first meeting of subscribers (February 28th, 1924), meeting of the Board of Directors - same as the subscribers - (March 1st, 1924). This book seems to have been retired early, possibly because of a typo on its cover - there it is titled "KEWANEE & GOLVA RAILWAY CO.", or it may have been a superfluous duplicate that was never updated after the first meeting.
