This copy is bound in green cloth with gilt blind-stamped title and black decorations on the front cover and with gilt (faded) on the spine and black title and decorations on the back cover. The endpapers are plain. The covers show rubbing, bumping to corners of book and spine, and fraying at the top of the spine. The contents are tight and clean other than foxing occasionally to the text and more so to frontis and title page due to a tissue protector.

The author, nicknamed "pump" was a flamboyant newpaper-man in Madison, WI. The authors anti-Republican views at the time of the Civil War are expressed.

The pages do not show any moisture damage but they are wavy as though the book was stored in a humid area, Curiously the front and rear endpapers appear to have been removed in this book as well as several others offered for sale online. Why? Maybe as issued by the publisher?

Pamphlet. Previous owner has written their name "hawley" on front cover which has some rubbing and fading. Otherwise very good-a nice copy.
