First edition. 8vo. 318, (2) pp. Publisher's green cloth, gilt lettered to the spine, dust jacket, not price clipped, inscribed by the author "To me little cousin - with fondest love, Lynne. Nov. 3rd 1960", inscribed by the recipient on the front pastedown "C.J.C. Mcoustra, Fulham, London from Lynne my cousin the author 1960". Some fading to the jacket spine, some general edge wear with some losses, else very good.

Vinegia [Venice]: Appresso Gabriel Giolito, 1568.. 4to, (lxxviii), 819, (1, xxiv), 173, (3) pp. Woodcut portrait frontispiece. Worming and some loss to the lower corner of the fly leaf and first 16 leaves, the final two leaves of the Life of Guicciardini misbound in the middle of the previous gathering, bookplate of Thomas de Grey, Baron Grantham, with a small associated manuscript library label to the foot of the paste down. Late 18th century speckled calf, blind rules to covers, "Newby Hall" in gilt to the upper cover, red morocco spine label, rebacked retaining the original backstrip. An early edition of Guicciardini's account of Italian history in the late 15th and early 16th centuries. De Grey inherited Newby Hall, near Ripon in North Yorkshire, from his cousin in 1792, adapting the dining room designed by Robert Adam to be his library. Later Earl de Grey, he was Lord Lieutenant of Ireland from 1841-44.

(viii), 256, (8) pp. Contemporary tree sheep, spine flat with gilt tooled bands, gilt lettered to one panel, the 19th century armorial bookplate of the Pauncefoot Duncombe baronets to the front pastedown. Frontispiece portrait of the author and 61 plates plus three 19th century engravings of Arabian horses mounted to front and rear blanks. Expert repairs to the joints, spine ends and corners, a very good copy.

[1790's].. Eight works bound in one volume. 4to. Mid nineteenth century pink half calf over marbled boards, the armorial bookplate of E.H. Greenly to the front pastedown with their signature or those of a family member to several of the title pages. A lovely copy. An interesting collection of poetry of the period, some more uncommon institutionally than others. The final page of Smith's "Elegiac Sonnets" is signed by the author.

Folding chart of the word with full original hand colour, dissected into 21 sections and mounted on linen, folds between original purple blindstamped morocco boards. A lovely example. An attractive reduction of John Purdy's four sheet chart first published in 1810.
