Lazare Nicolas Carnot (1753-1823) överlevde som ledande politiker både Robespierre, Napoleon och restaurationen. Han var medlem av såväl välfärdsutskottet som direktoriatet och sedan tribunatet. Krigsminister 1800. Han röstade dock som enda medlem av tribunatet emot Napoleons utnämnande till kejsare och föll i onåd. Efter Napoleon fall blev han landsförvisad som kungamördare.

Later, but still early edition of Du Ryers French translation of the Qur’ân. The first edtion was published in 1649 and it was reprinted in 22 editions up until 1775. André du Ryer was French consul in Alexandria, Cairo and Byzantium, and he made numerous travels through the Middle East and learned Arabic and Turkish. He returned to Paris in 1630 and become Royal interpreter for Oriental languages. Beside his translation of the Qu’rân he published a Turkish grammar and a translation of Gulistan by Saadi.

Studerade i Lund för Stobæus och efterträdde, i konkurrens med Linné, Rudbeck som professor i naturalhistoria i Uppsala 1740. En av KVA:s ursprungliga medlemmar 1739. Vid sidan om professuren arbetade han som läkare och gav upp den akademiska banan samma år som han adlades för att ägna sig åt medicinen och författarskap. Han har kallats “den svenska medicinens fader”, men hans stora pionjärverk var inom pediatriken. “Underrättelser om barnsjukdomar och deras botande”, 1764, utkom i ett otal översättningar och upplagor och användes i medicinundervisningen långt in på 1800-talet.

Bokbindaren Nils Strömberg var utbildad civilingeniör och jobbade på Sveriges litografiska tryckerier, dvs Esselte, men hade bokbinderi som sin stora hobby.
