There are two copies in the British Museum, one in the Harvard College Library and one in the New York Public Library." "This is the first of Boswell's " characteristical pamphlets" to bear his name on the title-page, and it makes a new and important stage in Boswell's career, his real reason for penning the pamphlet undoubtedly being that he saw a general election imminent and proposed to stand as parliamentary candidate for Ayrshire."
