Oklahoma City, OK: Privately Printed, 1966. 1st Edition . Hardcover. VG+. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, black cloth boards with gilt text on front and spine. Virtual only minor handling small dent on rear board near the upper right corner. Faint indentations are also present along the outside foredge of the front. Internal binding is tight and pages are clean. No signatures or bookplates, no handwriting or library markings present. Book interior is in fine condition but small indentations on exterior is why this received the lower grade.

Paris, France: Firmin-Didot, 1888. Hardcover. Very Good. 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall. See photos for condition details. Tall hardcover, red stamped cloth boards ornately decorated in gilt on spine. Exterior shows some spotting and soiling along with light corner and edge bumps, spine is quite faded. The internal binding is good, no hinge issues. Beautiful marbled end pages in front and rear are free of any handwriting or bookplates, no library markings etc. Pages are toned due to age and scattered foxing is present throughout with the worst being the end pages and exterior page edges. Text is in French.

[Impr. de L. Marchand], Nouvelle-Orleans, 1860. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Good+. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, original 1860 publication in original finding of marbled paper boards three-quarter bound in leather. Exterior shows chipping to the paper as well as scuffing and light soiling. The leather is starting to crack at the hinges and is worn at the corners. The internal binding of the text pages is tight but the hinge is cracked at the front board. Please note: this is an ex-library copy though the only markings is a bookplate on the frontispiece and stamps on the title page stating this came from the Redemptorist Library of St. Alphonsus Church of New Orleans. Paper is toned due to age and there is some foxing and spotting present, though the worst appears to be the end pages and pastedowns. Text is in French.

New York and Boston: Thomas Y. Crowell & Co., 1895. Hardcover. Good. See photos for condition details. Hardcover. Blue cloth boards with gilt design on front and spine. Previous owner signature on front pastedown. Scattered foxing noted throughout. No publication date listed (1895). Top edge gilt. Title page is yellowed with frayed edges and corner. Bottom section of title page is separating from hinge. Top of title page has small tear. The poor condition of the title page, which may have been separated and then reattached, is the reason for the low condition grade. See photos.

Montpellier, France: Jean Martel Aine?, 1900. 1st Edition . No Binding. Binding Copy. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Rare original unbound copy of the first edition with page quadrants still uncut. Paper is yellowed and brittle with quite a bit of edge chipping. There are 40 text pages and 11 double pages of plates on heavier bond paper. Pages are uncut on multiple sides is the binding process was never completed. Sections are loosely tied together with thin string with remnants of paper on the spine. Very uncommon to find in its original state, original edition. This is a unbound copy and some of the page quadrants are tearing at the folds. There is also a separator sheet in the rear which is crumbly and stained.

Spain: Titulos Publicados, 1966. Soft cover. Very Good. Folio - over 12 - 15" tall. See photos for condition details. Tall soft covers, measuring 12.5 and 12.25 inches tall. These are two books produced as part of the Titulos Publicados series. The first title ofLa Casita de Chocolate is number 7 and La Semilla Prodigiosa is number 14. Neither book shows a clear copyright date except for the two digit reference on the registration number which shows La Casita de Chocolate being 1964 and the second book being 1966. Exteriors show minor scuffing and soiling, both books are staple bound and unpaginated. No authors are listed. No signatures or bookplates present, no handwriting, no signatures, no scribbling, no library markings. Both books have a small sticker residue in the upper left corner. The 1966 book is slightly taller and narrower than the one from 1964. Interior pages of both books are slightly toned due to age but show little wear. Garden City, NY: Doubleday, Doran & Company, Inc., 1932. 2nd Printing. Hardcover. Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Maurice Berty. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, still has the publishers review copy slip tipped in at the front end page. Blue cloth boards are clean on the front but the back shows rust colored spotting which may actually be just rust since it catches your fingernail when you scratch it. The spine shows fading which is also present on the edges of the rear board. Edges and corners show bumps. The internal binding is good and text pages are tight and square. This book would actually grade as near fine or better but the rest marks on the backboard is why it the only grades as VG. There are no signatures or personal bookplates, no handwriting, no library markings, nothing torn or loose. Pages are toned but crisp like the book was never used. The copyright page states second printing.

Paris: Isidore Liseux, 1884. Limited Edition . Soft cover. Good. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Softcover, original limited edition of 150 copies, of which this is number 134. Tan wraps are brittle, darkened and soiled with quite a bit of chipping and tearing along the edges. There are also two sets of numbers penciled on the front, near each upper corner. The exterior grades as only fair condition with splitting to the spine edges and chipping but the interior pages are in much better shape and grades as VG to VG+. Most of the page quadrants are still uncut showing this book was never even read. After page 277 there is another title page stating "Livres Curieux, Editions Rares, Catalogue complet au 1er Janvier 1885" which shows the copyright date at the bottom of 1885. Napoli (Naples, Italy): Ente Provinciale per il Turismo, 1942. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Good/Fair. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover with dust jacket. DJ is soiled and toned with numerous large chips and tears along edges, top of spine area has the largest piece missing and the spine also has the title name written in pencil on it. Thin paper covered boards also show edge and corner wear as well as chipping on spine. The section of missing dust jacket area on spine matches up with the large section of spine missing on the book itself. Internal binding is good, no hinge issues. Pages or tone due to age and there is some minor spotting and foxing present. No signatures or bookplates, no library markings, their handwriting found.

The book is rectangular, measuring just over 6.5 inches tall by 9 inches wide. Exterior shows spotting and soiling with toning to the edges. Edges and corners show bumps/wear. The internal binding is good, no hinge issues though the rear hinge has pulling which is starting to show the staples. Pages are toned due to age and type of paper used. No signatures or bookplates, no library markings, no handwriting found.

Hardcover, limited edition of 2050 copies, issued solely to subscribers. Dark tan cloth boards show minor scuffing and soiling along with edge and corner bumps. The exterior page edges show some stains on the top and bottom sides, which does not affect the interior pages. The interior binding is good except for the front hinge which has some splitting. Pages are toned due to age and there is some spotting and foxing present. The front pastedown contains a facsimile signature of the author in gold on black cloth, which has been pasted in. The rear end page has a very small name stamp the upper left corner. No other markings found.

Paris: Librairie Poussielgue Freres, 1883. Hardcover. VG-. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcovers, two-volume match set quarter bound with leather on marbled paper covered boards. Exterior shows scuffing and handling wear along with edge and corner bumps/wear. The condition of each volume is similar: binding is good with no hinge issues, no signatures or bookplates present. The title page of each volume stamped stating these came from the Redemptorist Library of St. Alphonsus Church of New Orleans. No other library markings found. Both volumes contain foldout maps at the frontispiece location, the map in volume one has some small tears near the gutter but nothing serious. Pages are toned due to age and foxing is present throughout with some pages showing quite a bit though the heaviest foxing is present on the end pages. Volume one contains 572 pages and volume two contains 678 pages (1250 pages total).

Firenze, Italy: Adriano Salani, 1923. Hardcover. Good+. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, thin pictorial paper boards show some scuffing and toning, edges and corners show bumps/wear/dents. Internal binding is good and text pages are secure. The front pastedown contains a bookmark as well as remnants of the paper label below. No handwriting or signatures, no library markings, no notes, no food splatters etc. Pages are toned due to age and type of paper used but are clean. Text is in Italian.

New York: Equitable Publishing Co., 1896. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Good+. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, no dust jacket. First edition thus. Dark red cloth boards with black design on front, text on spine. Spine is faded and top outer edge of front and rear boards have what appears to be paint on them. Binding good, no torn or loose pages. Front end page has a signature with an 1898 date and pastedown has his bookplate stating " Private Library of L. L. Dirickson, Jr., Berlin, MD". Pages are toned due to age and some foxing is present, with the worst being on the end pages. Subscription blanks still present in rear of book.

New York: Sheldon and Company, 1871. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Fair. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, original 1871 publication and not a modern reprint. Exterior is in rough shape, mainly along the spine, which has large chips and holes present. Edges and corners also show wear. Despite the poor condition of the exterior cloth, the interior is in much better shape. No hinge cracks at boards and text pages are tight, with the exception of the frontispiece area as there is some pulling present here. Tissue guard is still present and attached. Pages are mildly toned due to age but show only minimal spotting and foxing. The front pastedown has a small name label in the upper corner in the opposite end page shows where a price was once penciled in the upper corner and then later erased. No other markings noted. Exterior is in poor condition but interior is graded as VG. Overall book condition graded as fair.

Kingston, JM: Institute of Jamaica, 1966. 4th Edition . Hardcover. As New/As New. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover with dust jacket. These books were purchased directly from the distributor and packed away for decades. This one is actually still wrapped the original publisher's shipping paper, never opened, never used. We assume this is the fourth edition as we purchased half dozen of these several decades ago and most were packed away and all copies were of the fourth edition. The brown wrapping paper is partially opened along the top edge as well as the corners but it is still factory sealed. You will not find a finer copy than this. Obviously, the book was never read, never set on the shelf, never used. Pages are clean and bright and of course there are no handwriting or bookplates present. These books were purchased directly from the distributor and packed away for decades. Dust jacket shows very light handling wear, mainly along the top edge. This includes faint bumping and scuffing. The green cloth boards underneath are clean and bright with the only issues been some very light edge bumps. The internal binding is good and text pages are tight. Book was never read, never set on the shelf, never used. Pages are clean and bright and obviously there is no handwriting or bookplates present, no remainder marks. At the time of this listing we have multiple copies available, including one that is still sealed in the publisher's shipping paper. The copyright page states fourth (revised) edition of 1966.

London: Hodder and Stoughton Ltd., 1922. Hardcover. Good+. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcovers, two-volume set bound in dark red cloth with paper label to spine. Exterior shows spotting and soiling with some edge fading to both rear boards. Volume 1 also has some bubbling/wrinkling to the cloth. The internal binding of both volumes are good, no hinge issues. Paper is toned due to age and there is some scattered spotting and foxing present, though this is mainly limited to the end pages and pastedowns. No signatures or bookplates, no library markings, no handwriting, no remainder marks. Note: the title pages both state the publisher as Hodder and Stoughton with a 1922 publication date but both paper labels on the spine, which are darkened and chipped, state George H Duran out of New York with the date of 1923. It is likely this is the 1922 printing but was distributed in the US through Duran. Volume 1 contains 212 pages, volume 2 contains 200 pages.

New York: Leavitt & Allen, 1856. Hardcover. Poor. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, ornately decorated leather boards, fully stamped and highlighted in gilt. This copy is in very poor condition with both boards detached, spine strip is missing, rear end pages are detached but present. The leather shows extensive wear to the edges and corners. The remaining binding of the text pages is good in the illustrations still have their tissue guards, including the frontispiece. Both the title and contents page contains a stamp stating this was from the Library of the Our Lady of Perpetual Help church in Brooklyn NY. No other markings found. Pages are darkened due to age and there spotting and foxing present throughout, including minor dampstains to the extreme edges on some of the pages.
