Beautifully hand colored pochoir plates illustrating the fashions of the time, each card measuring 7 1/2 inches by 5 1/2 inches, the year shown at the bottom of each card. Each wrapper also illustrated with a color illustration. Charming original folding case with patterned papers and silk ties. Case is worn but intact with short silk ties remaining. Former owners name in ink on several plates in the first series, some of the signatures across the bottom of the images.

Hinge paper broken as usual but covers still holding, case is slightly worn but all four paste on labels are present. Brown silk ties still there. All wrappers clean and unworn.

Charles Scribner's Sons, New York, 1925. Early edition. This is a small quarto volume bound in the original decorated maroon cloth with gilt titling. Nice bookplate on front paste down, small stationers sticker (from Santa Fe) but otherwise very clean with the cloth unworn and the cover decoration bright. A fine copy, well illustrated, a classic work of New Mexico and the Southwest

London: George Routledge, (1884). 12mo, green glazed pictorial boards, green spine, yellow edges, bright yellow endpapers. 80p. Light cover soil and wear to the extremities, else a very good copy of the First Edition (Schuster 107-1i). Beautiful color illustrations throughout by Greenaway, engraved by Edmund Evans.

San Francisco: Willaim Doxey, 1897. Octavo, unpaginated, bound in tan linen with marvelous Arts andCrafts pictorial cover in black, dark tan and olive green. First Edition, Second Issue, with Doxey imprint. A few pages are roughly opened, as is usual with this title, contemporary signature on front free endpaper. The handsome binding is in exceptionally fine condition, without any wear or fading.

David McKay, Philadelphia, 1900. Octavo. Bound in original forest green cloth with decorative Art Nouveau cover and spine in gilt and black. (xi); 11-519; (Index;521-526). Top edge gilt. Signature of Wm. E. Burbank on the front free endpaper. William Burbank was a contemporary of Whitman and an accomplished artist, living most of his life in Manchester, New Hampshire. Bookseller's ticket from Goodman's Book Store in Manchester affixed to the rear pastedown. Aside from minor rubbing to the extremities and occasional light pencil notations this is a very handsome copy, with portrait frontispiece of Uncle Walt and a facsimile of the poet's Biographical Note bound in.

Philadelphia: David McKay, (1900). Octavo. An octavo, 438 pages, bound in original forest green cloth with gilt titles on spine. There is some rubbing and wear to the binding as well as a few places of discoloration but overall this remains a nice bright copy of the "Death Bed Edition". Contains First and Second Annex as well as " A Backward Glance O'er Travel'd Roads". Contemporary signature, dated 1901.

(London): Chatto and Windus, 1908. An octavo, 178 pages, plus glossary. bound in original red cloth with gilt titles on spine and front cover as well as a gilt knight upon his steed. Top edge gilt. Some browning to the front endleaves, a small previous owner's name on the front pastedown and some very minor spotting, else a fine copy of Frontispiece and nine full-page illustrations in color by Byam Shaw, capturing the artist's ever-present sense of high romance.

Richard Bentley, publisher. 1833 (first series of 3 volumes) and 1843/4 (second series of 4 volumes) Edited by Lord Dover. Three volumes with the concluding series of 4 volumes. Seven volumes total, first editions uniformly bound in half butterscotch calf with cloth boards. Octavo, five raised bands with spine labels in darker leather. Top edges gilt. A very nice clean set wtih some scattered pencil notes, staining and marginalia. Marbled end papers. A beautiful set, the leather a nice carmel color with very little wear and the cloth a contrasting light brown. Title and volume labels on each spine (six panels)

Blackie & Son, London, circa 1930. A near fine copy bound in the original red cloth with black cover design by Charles Rennie Mackintosh. Original pictorial dust wrapper with some minor chipping but overall very good. Slight sun fading to top and bottom edges of book but colors are clear and bright with the bold Mackintosh pattern unmarked.

Edinburgh: Thomas Nelson, (ca. 1920). A lovely little 12mo., 379 pages, bound in quarter vellum over red cloth. Top edge gilt. A fine copy.

Los Angeles: The Arroyo Press, 1906. A slim 12mo., 83 pages, bound in original printed wrappers with yapp edges. Aside from a small chip at the tail of the spine, this is a pristine copy, signed by the author on the title page.

Tarzana, California Edgar Rice Burroughs, Inc. 1948 First edition First edition bound in blue clothwith red lettering. The book is near fine with virtually no wear. The dust wrapper is clean and bright with a few closed tears and some small chips (1/8 inch) at the bottom of the spine. A beautiful copy. Hardcover Near Fine very good

This charming children's book in original stapled wrappers has 288 color pictures featuring objects and cultural representatives that were familiar to every English school child..including a few that would not be seen in a school book of today, including an airship and a golliwog. A fine copy of an unusual book..super for introducing American children to English life.
