Goldsboro Limited Edition, #71/750. First UK edition, 1st printing, hardcover with dust jacket in archival cover. Volume and dust jacket are Fine: signed by author, no other interior markings, no problems. A collectible book in like condition. Please see images of the book you will receive. Notes: fantastic prescient endpaper art with masked pedestrian. Description:
French erotica. Paris, 1937. Covers are made of heavy cardboard stock, covered by an opaque white dust jacket (attached to the cardboard), which is covered by transparent glassine paper (all as issued) now in archival cover. 10.5 x 8.25 inches. Contents are snippets of essays by known authors accompanied by erotic photographs. Not paginated. 60 pages plus blanks, complete as issued. Acetate cover is obviously fragile given the age but holding up surprisingly well. Text block slightly askance from boards but everything is sound. Interior has old pencil notation from prior seller; no folds, stamps, or writing. Overall very good or better. A scarce item suitable for collectors in this area. An uncommon item especially in this condition with glassine cover. Please see images of the book you will receive. Notes: To my mind this production is more than simple French erotica and should be viewed in context. This volume came out of 1937 Paris - a very difficult time that was about to get much worse. Description:
1794 first UK edition. Volume is very good condition: no interior markings of any kind, most pages are uncut. Text block is soundly sewn with protective cardboard covers but has never been formally bound. Volume 2 of 5 volume set. (Volumes 1-4 are text; volume 5 is index and 39 plates.) This volume is complete as issued with all blanks. Collates: i-vii, 1-561, [2]. Adams was scientific instrument maker to George III. Adams is important in the history of the progress of science as he strongly advocated experimental science. I have provided a page from his lecture: "On The Method of Reasoning in Natural Philosophy" (p. 98 this volume) describing his commitment to experimental science. I cannot overstate the importance of this shift in scientific thinking - relying on experimental data instead of the wisdom of the ancients. The other feature of this volume, besides content, is that it is in its original state. New books sold in 1794 were presented to the buyer in exactly this condition. Plain cardboard…

Description:
Volume 3 of Adams' Lectures. 1794. Series had 4 volumes of text and one volume of plates. This volume in original full leather boards. Boards are almost off. Text block is sound and volume could be recased easily in original boards. Interior is very good; foxing in front and rear pages; internally minimal foxing; no vandalism. Old owner's note on blank end paper. Complete as published plus quire 3 (pages 17-32) from volume 4 accidentally inserted between pages 576-577 here. Does not detract from volume in any way. Although the owner of volume 4 might feel otherwise. I have volume 2 listed also. Please see scans of the book you will receive.

Description:
First edition pamphlet, circa 1892. Condition is Very Good: Some toning around edges of wraps. Small chips, small closed edge tears and minor corner wear on some pages. Staples with some rust. No interior writing or vandalism. Pages are bright. Wraps are attached but delicate especially in front. Paginates: wraps, (1)-32. Somewhat uncommon pamphlet. WorldCat locates approximately 20 physical copies. See OCLC: 166586224 and 2599901. See McDade (Annals of Murder) 6. This pamphlet has two laid in adverts for another pamphlet "Life, trial, and confession of Sawtell" (AKA: Trial of Isaac Sawtell; AKA: History of the Murder of Hiram Sawtell by his brother Isaac Sawtell. McDade 852.) The laid in ads are the most ephemeral of ephemera. A collectible item in like condition. Please see images of the book you will receive. Notes: Although author and date are not present one may make an educated guess. Murder was committed November, 1891 with trial shortly thereafter. These pamphlets would have been published at…

Description:
First edition, four volumes, 1909-1920, Washington. Overall very good condition in original bindings. Notable for the complete absence of library or ownership markings. The only marking I can find is an old pencil note on the front blank of volume 3. Includes bound in errata slips and a promotional leaf for the series laid in. The boards have some dings to the corners. Volume 3 has the most condition issues: shows the most outer wear with some stains on the edges and wear on spine and boards (see scans). Bindings are all sound, which I expect can be an issue with this heavy set. A quite decent usable set. Please see scans of the books you will receive.

Description:
First US edition, likely second printing, decorative hardcover, circa 1887/88. Identification of first editions is complicated and is partially addressed below. Overall condition is good. Boards show moderate patina, wear especially to edges and corners. Prior owner's stamp on front blank, moderate foxing to title page and last few pages of ads, occasional smudge, no tears or folds. Hinges and gutters starting but should hold with proper handling. Paginates: blanks, 384, 24, blanks plus 12 unpaginated plates. All edges gilt. Please see images of the book you will receive. Notes: Popular British author with this title being one of his better known works. An example of early science fiction with a flying submarine. More Notes: True 1st ed. are 1887 by Blackie & Son, London with 1887 date on title page. Most US 1st edition books in this series had a date on the title page but is not the case with this title. This copy with "Christmas, 1886" date at top of ads in back. The first ad is for G. A. Henty's…
