Covers are made of heavy cardboard stock, covered by an opaque white dust jacket (attached to the cardboard), which is covered by transparent glassine paper (all as issued) now in archival cover. 10.5 x 8.25 inches. Contents are snippets of essays by known authors accompanied by erotic photographs. Not paginated. 60 pages plus blanks, complete as issued. Acetate cover is obviously fragile given the age but holding up surprisingly well. Text block slightly askance from boards but everything is sound. Interior has old pencil notation from prior seller; no folds, stamps, or writing. Overall very good or better. A scarce item suitable for collectors in this area. Text block is soundly sewn with protective cardboard covers but has never been formally bound. Volume 2 of 5 volume set. (Volumes 1-4 are text; volume 5 is index and 39 plates.) This volume is complete as issued with all blanks. Collates: i-vii, 1-561, [2]. Adams was scientific instrument maker to George III. Adams is important in the history of the progress of science as he strongly advocated experimental science. I have provided a page from his lecture: "On The Method of Reasoning in Natural Philosophy" (p. 98 this volume) describing his commitment to experimental science. I cannot overstate the importance of this shift in scientific thinking - relying on experimental data instead of the wisdom of the ancients. Volume 3 of Adams' Lectures. 1794. Series had 4 volumes of text and one volume of plates. This volume in original full leather boards. Boards are almost off. Text block is sound and volume could be recased easily in original boards. Interior is very good; foxing in front and rear pages; internally minimal foxing; no vandalism. Old owner's note on blank end paper. Complete as published plus quire 3 (pages 17-32) from volume 4 accidentally inserted between pages 576-577 here. Does not detract from volume in any way. Spine is sun faded. Interior has ancient owner's name on front blank, a few stray pencil marks. Foxing is present is intermittent with most at front and back. Paginates: frontis, vi, 375 Field 324. This volume is his collection of stories from the native American peoples and early settlers of the Northeast. These reside at the intersection of history and myth. A talented writer and story teller. Recommended.

First edition, four volumes, 1909-1920, Washington. Overall very good condition in original bindings. Notable for the complete absence of library or ownership markings. The only marking I can find is an old pencil note on the front blank of volume 3. Includes bound in errata slips and a promotional leaf for the series laid in. The boards have some dings to the corners. Volume 3 has the most condition issues: shows the most outer wear with some stains on the edges and wear on spine and boards (see scans).
