The author practize Mesmerism at Amsterdam and probably Rotterdam. He was a dedicated follower of Mesmer and had published several works on the subject, which are now hard to find. A nice clean inner copy.

Contemporary half brown morocco, spine with gilt rullers and gilt lettered at black morocco label (slightly discoloured; joints slightly rubbed), marbled boards and end-papers. During Guibourt's professorship at the Ecole de Pharmacie, this was the "Bible" for the students of pharmacy in France. It comprises i.a. a listing of recommended literature. Guibourt will be best remembered for his classic "Histoire naturelle des drogues simples" (1820 and 6 consecutive editions), as founding work in pharmacognosy. -- Apart from some slight scattered foxing, a nice copy from the library of Henri Buignet (1815-1876).

Illustrated with many wood-engraved facsimiles in the text. ¶ Last and best edition of this legendary work. Although obsolete from bibliographical point of vue, and not always accurate, still useful for its collations, learned annotations and the many very rare items described. From sentimental point of vue, a desirable item for every bookcollector and antiquarian bookseller.

Gand,: the author,, 1888.. 120 pp. Small 8vo (12 x 18.5 cm.). Original printed wrappers, entirely uncut and unopened. Burggraeve, the aged and learned Belgian physician was the founder of Dosimetric medicine, and author of some outstanding works (.i.a. a magnificent study on Vesalius, cf. Choulant). In 1876 he published his major work, "Répertoire universèlle de médecine dosimétrique" and traveled widely in Europe to popularize the theory detailed in the book of chemotherapy based on alkaloids. In the present manual, he strongly advocate the use of coffee.-(Besides some dust soiling to the wrappers and some scattered foxing, a fine copy with ample margins). Rare.

His "Homöopatischer Hausartz (1835), a great classic of Homoeopathic literature, was first translated into French in 1849, followed by a second and enlarged French edition in 1850. Between 1855 and 1891 5 more Baillière editions where published. Rare.-- (As usual with Baillière's publication of this epoque, scattered foxing).

With some figures and 5 charming coloured tinted wood-engraved plates (loosely inserted). ¶ The rare first English edition of Grande Pharmacie Finck & A La Croix Rouge's "Guide Médical...". Including a price list of patent medicines, perfumery, proprietary articles, etc. and several leaves of advertisements for Finck's "specialities". The tinted 5 plates are of particular interest, besides the printing process (tinted zincography), they show the wonderful interiors of Geneva's most famous pharmacy store of the 19th century.
