FIRST EDITION. 8vo. pp. iv, + 45 followed by Elizabeth's 1544 poem reproduced in facsimile (124 pages on hand-made paper). Frontis. portrait of Princess Elizabeth and reproduction of the embroidered cover of the original manuscript. Half-calf, marbled endpapers, with the coat of arms of the Royal Society of Literature stamped in gilt on the front cover. Some heavy foxing to the blanks and spotting to the uncut foredges, a very good copy. Percy Ames was the librarian and Secretary of The Royal Society of Literature and this copy is inscribed by him to Victor Leuliette Esq.

Exhibition catalogue for a show of sculptures by Stanislav Hanzik in Prague in 1972. 230x165mm. pp. 28. 14 pp of text and 16 (unpaginated) pp of photographs and 1 page of list of sculptures at the exhibition, final page blank. Text in Czech. Original brown card wrappers with Hanzik's signature printed in red on upper cover, all in excellent condition. Sudek began life as a bookbinder but after losing an arm in WWI, became a photographer and was the great 20th century chronicler of Prague. This exhibition catalogue is, although on the face of it a modest set of photographs of bronze sculptures, demonstrates Sudek's stark, clear cut style.

Paris J.P. Aillaud 1850, 1850. Third edition. 12mo (140x85mm). pp xiii, [3], 628. Black full morocco, lavishly decorated in gilt to upper and lower covers. Spine with five raised bands, six compartments decorated in gilt, five with a single flower inside a decorated border, the second with "Missa" tooled in gilt in second compartment. Red doublure decorated in gilt with a cross surrounded by scrolling vine patterns; red washed silk endpapers. All edges gilt. Slight rubbing to hinges and head of spine and some modest wear to corners but overall this is a superb binding, beautifully decorated and in excellent condition. Ffep has a booklabel of the Wigan Free Public Library and some of the pages have the library stamp in blind. A handwritten note on the verso of the ffep reads: "Cat: Bought April 1897, H.J.F (?)". Printed on vergé du Hainaut, number 295 from a total edition of 550 with ten watercolours reproduced in heliogravure by Paul-Émile Bécat. Cream paper covers with pale pink dust-jacket with the title printed in brown on the upper cover of each volume. There is a small tear to the foot of the jacket at the hinge with the upper cover but otherwise both volumes are in near fine condition throughout. Isidore Liseux was a publisher of erotica in 19th century France. His translation of Fanny Hill was first published in 1888. This edition, possibly by the Olympia Press in Paris is illustrated by Paul-Émile Bécat, perhaps the most prolific illustrator of erotica in 20th century France. An early work of Dickens's which he fitted in around The Pickwick Papers and Oliver Twist. It is a reworking by Dickens of Grimaldi's own memoirs as rewritten by Thomas Egerton Wilks. The title page refers only to part one (Pars Prima) as is usual although the book is in three parts. A very good copy of one of Swedenborg's less common works: Copac locates two copies in UK libraries (BL and Sheffield) and Worldcat a further two in the USA (Yale and Austin, Texas). Two original double-page lithographs in six colours (one being the central pages and the other the cover). Six other colour and twelve black and white lithographs. Some slight creasing and bumping to the corners but overall a very good copy of what has been described as a beautiful but incendiary book. Ting was born in China in 1923, fleeing the Communist regime in the 1950s and then moving between homes and studios in New York, Paris and Amsterdam. In all three cities, he absorbed their specific counter-cultures, whether this was Beat poetry or the visceral expressionism of the CoBrA movement. "My Shit and My Love" combines these elements in work that is simultaneously angry, erotic, child-like, physical, funny, elemental and outrageous.
