The birthplace of actress Winona Ryder, Winona, Minnesota has probably not had an Asian population greater than 3% of its total residents (according to US Census data available.) I could find no information about Frank Yep, or the "Chinese Cook Book Company." Each recipe is accompanied by a cartoonish drawing, usually the same character in different poses. These show racial stereotypes in the way that many of the Southern cookbooks with "Mammy" drawings did.
