Includes chromolithograpic paint ads, illustrations from photos and other sources, charts, tables, calendars, Morse codes, flag signals and more. The nine folded nautical charts show the harbors and bays of New York, Long Island Sound, Delaware, Chesapeake, Boston, Gloucester, Portland, ME, Block Island to Currituck and San Francisco. CONDITION: Good, wear at extremities, damp stains on covers, cocked spine, light soiling to leaves, some toning, Boston Harbor map with some separation at folds, maps otherwise very good.

Appealing collection of New England ballads including poems and commentary that ranging from the journey of Columbus to an 1898 tribute to Manilla Bay. In a handsome publisher's cloth binding. CONDITION: Good, bumped corners, ink inscription on flyleaf, title page and a few others foxed, some offsetting from images on text, otherwise clean and fresh.

Hardcover. 8vo (8.75 x 5.5"), maroon buckram, gilt spine title, map endpapers. xii, 284 pp. CONDITION: Very good, clean and fresh with the exception Rayneses Neck and Brave Boat Harbor discreetly highlighted by owner in blue on endpaper maps. Highlights also found in index at Sewall and Raynes names. No dust jacket.

Quebec: P. Sinclair, 1851. 16mo (6.6" x 4.25"), blind-stamped brown cloth, gilt title on upper cover. 76 pp., 14" x 19 fold-out map on blue paper. A mid-nineteeth century guide to the city of Quebec, with a map entitled "Plan of the City of Quebec and its Environs. P. Sinclair, Quebec, 1851. Including latest alterations and improvements." CONDITION: Good, title-page neatly re-hinged with Japanese tissue, map with 4" repaired tear at upper left, light toning at folds.

[Shanghai?, circa 1930]. Color printed map, 20.5" x 28.75" plus margins. A bilingual map of the city of Shanghai, printed in Japanese and English, showing the heart of the city, bissected by the Whangpoo (Huangpu) River. Many wharves, streets and green spaces are identified in English, while many other features are in Japanese only, including the keys on the bottom right and marginal glosses on the left. An extensive "green zone" near the race track in the upper right seems to include a good deal of proposed development, with many roads consisting of broken lines. The map is populated with a wealth of detail.CONDITION: Good, old fold marks, a few small areas of repaired loss at folds, slight toning at folds, reinforced at some folds on verso.

An attractive and quite interesting New Orleans guidebook providing a glimpse of city life and tourism at the dawn of the twentieth century. Expanded from earlier editions which were used as the official city guides for the New Orleans' Cotton Centennial Exhibition, this 1902 edition is the second one published by F.F. Hansell & Bro. It addresses a wide array of practical concerns, from detailed coverage of eleven different travel routes to New Orleans, baggage and cab arrangements, and accommodations, to barber shops, bath houses, hospitals, and telegraph offices. In addition to its descriptions and histories of city sights and "A Walk in the Old City," the guide also contains an introduction to New Orleans' "Social Manners and Customs," which "are somewhat different from those of other parts of the United States, and... are rigidly adhered to." CONDITION: Very good, nick to spine-edge of paper on rear cover, bit of rubbing to spine label slightly affecting lettering. First edition. One of 450 copies, "finished on the last day of Spring April the ninth, in the year nineteen hundred and thirty eight," and purchased by previous owner at "the Cuala Press, June 9, 1938, for a gift for Mother."  Wyman Parker was a librarian at Wesleyan University, librarian at the Bread Loaf School of English, and a collector of fine press books.

Frontis., ix, 60 pp., numerous b&w plates, early ownership inscription of artist Ernest Haskell (1876-1925), Christmas 1914, in ink on flyleaf. CONDITION: Very good, minimal wear, some loss of paper at inside rear hinge, light foxing to terminal endpaper and rear paste-down.

New York: Published by E. Bliss and E. White, No. 128 Broadway, 1825. 8vo, original half calf and marbled paper over boards. vi, [1], 14-178 pp. Stated "First American From the Third London Edition," published in the year that Owen established the utopian community of New Harmony, Indiana, in an attempt to implement the principles outlined herein. One of two American editions published in 1825. The other edition was published in Cincinnati, as the "First American, from the fourth London, edition." Both are rare in the marketplace. Neither is recorded at auction in American Book Prices Current online (1975 to present), and Americana Exchange records only a single copy of the New York edition offered by Ernest Wessen (Midland Notes) in 1963. An extraordinary rebuttal by Democrat S. J. Tilden to a series of New York Times articles during the corrupt Tammany Hall, or N. Y. C. "Ring", period of New York politics. Tilden and others were accused by the Times and Republicans of doing nothing to prevent fellow democrats Boss Tweed, Sweeney etc from consolidating their power, and speaking up only when the tide was shifting. Tilden responds with a summary of this period, and lists numerous N. Y. Times comments and articles with his corrections and explanations, often using editorial quotes that undermine the reporters' accusations.
