Not an attractive copy, but usually seen rebound.

Norwich (presumably Connecticut): John Trumbull, no date [c. 1780]. Some page staining and browning, but very good in what are likely the original boards with a calf spine (original, or at least early).

New York: Boxing Writer’s Association, 1941. “1941 Edition.” Publisher’s cloth (waterstained on the spine, extending onto the covers), else very good. Formerly the property of a trainer, this copy has been signed in ink and in pencil by some 50 figures from the boxing world and elsewhere. Among the boxers are Jim Braddock, Joe Louis and Ray Robinson. Cartoonist Ham Fisher signed the book with a drawing of “Joe Palooka.” Additionally signed by Joe DiMaggio, Toots Shor, and J. Edgar Hoover.

Boston: Ticknor and Fields, 1865. First Edition; first printing of the wrappers. BAL 21857, noting the new book material in this publication. Some chips, tears, and stains; a good copy.

Oxford: Basil Blackwell, n.d. [1936]. First Edition of this juvenile. A very good copy. Inscribed by the author in his elderly hand, probably in the 1960s.

New York: Macmillan, 1892. First American Edition (although the copyright page misleadingly prints “New Edition...”). Just a hint of wear; a fine copy.

New York: Doubleday, Page, 1907. First Edition. Very minor rubbing; tiny tear at the edge of the frontispiece; nearly a fine copy. Inscribed by Peary on the title page. This expedition was truly a near thing; the old saw of “close but no cigar” fits the situation. Peary successfully trekked to the North Pole (a claim often disputed) two years later.

Strand on the Green (U.K.): The Fulcrum Press, n.d. [1929]. First Edition; one of 220 numbered copies. Illustrated by Lynton Lamb. Aside from a little offsetting on the endpapers, fine.
