Fourteen volumes in original hardcovers. Series 1: volumes 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 11, 12, 15, 20, 21, 22, 23, 25, 26. 1896-1914. Generally condition runs from Good to Very Good plus. These are heavy volumes that are prone to binding failures when handled improperly. Some of these volumes are sound, some strengthened with new endpapers, some where binding is starting. None have failed bindings. The earlier volumes show more general wear to the boards than later volumes. I have prepared a more complete condition report on each volume so feel free to inquire. Very good condition. Date is approximate; WorldCat suggests 1853 - 1860. Bookplate of prior owner "Dowager Lady Freake." Author of "Old Edinburgh" is usually listed as anon. Some sources suggest Thomas O. Summers which is a plausible choice. Paper cracked at front gutter but binding is solid. Interior is fine with age appropriate toning. A very attractive book. Google search of Dowager Lady Freake finds newspaper article March 13, 1897 listing her as guest at wedding; and mention in book titled 'Below The Fairy City.' Old Edinburgh is sometimes bound with Modern Edinburgh; sometimes by itself. Protestantism is sometimes 2 volumes. This is the second volume covering 1574 - 1685. 1921 softcover pamphlet in good condition. 80 pages plus blank and wraps. Wraps are fragile and chipped, closed tear on back. Interior is excellent, pages are supple, no writing anywhere. I think there is a 1909 edition which precedes this. Please see scans of the item you will receive.

Pamphlet from Old Sarum. Old Sarum is the site of one of the earliest settlements of Salisbury not far from Stonehenge and Avebury. I collected this item there in 1977. A perfect gift for the Anglophile who has everything. Please see images of the book you will receive.

Uncommon softcover pamphlet. 1915. 32 pages plus wraps. Complete as issued. Condition is good: covers with much patina but still sturdy and supple. Interior has ownership marking of 1915 but no other writing, some occasional smudges. Pages are supple and the quality of paper is excellent. A very scarce World War I pamphlet. WorldCat locates 5 copies (OCLC: 42964759). None for sale at time of listing. American author goes into Germany to report. He learns the German people seem not at all put out by war and show all signs of thriving. He is likewise impressed by their efficient military. His descriptions of trench warfare and the Russian front are predictably grim. Please see scans of the item you will receive.

Wonderful colorful pamphlet. 100 pages plus wraps in good condition. Wraps show chips and wear. Interior is untouched, no markings, folds or other vandalism. First edition, hardcover, New York, 1865. Condition is Very Good: primary condition issue is presence of a modern professional reproduction of the folding map. There is mild to moderate foxing seen on the plates, very little in the text. Some occasional old corner folds. No writing, vandalism or other issues. Binding is sound. Paginates: blanks(2), map, (i)-(viii), (9)-82, blanks(2), 8 unpaginated plates. Original blind stamped boards. Back board shows considerably more wear than the front. The new map is on laid paper similar to that used in the book. An extremely scarce book. None for sale. Last seen at auction 1908. Sabin 461. WorldCat locates 18 physical copies.
