AR.) and concluding with the January to June, 1920, issue (XVI. AR.). Replete with articles, poems, plays, short stories, biographies, opinion pieces etc. Approximately the last half of the contents have, at some distant point in the past, been exposed to moisture, which has left a light tide mark, and caused the pages to ripple. There is no difficult in separating the pages, and the blemish is cosmetic. The binding is now scuffed and rubbed, but still serviceable. A good copy of a scarce Icelandic journal.

Hardcover. black-&-white illustrations. ,Small 4to,,Two volume set handsomely bound in embellished green leather,Bound in full grained green calf, the boards embellished in blind, the spine in compartments stamped in blind with a matching pattern. All edges gilt. Signature of Henry Baker and year (1838) on inside front board, above a 20th century bookplate of previous owner, opposite which is his signature and date (April, 1933). Same to volume II, except no signature of Baker. Preliminary pages of volume I show some foxing; less so to volume II. Occasional light foxing to margins of later pages. Extremities of boards rubbed. Joints of both volumes beginning to split near base of spine. Some darkening (soiling?) to leather near base of spine of both volumes. Spines appear a trifle sunned. Still a sound, handsome set in good condition. Pagination: volume I, pp. 768, Table des Pieces; volume II, pp. 895, Table des Pieces. The text, of course, is in French.

This is a selection of 33 stories, by various authors, from 'Bentley's Miscellany' magazine. Each story is mostly humourous in nature and illustrated by a Cruikshank illustration 'printed from the original etchings on steel'. There is some offsetting of the engravings to the text, but generally the engravings themselves are in vg condition (save for the spotting around the engravings, as noted). The binding has been recently, and professionally, restored. Notwithstanding, the boards still show wear to edges and some light soiling. Very small name stamp on front pastedown. Foredges a bit foxed; else in good plus condition. Digital photos available upon request. 'With thirty-three illustrations printed from the original etchings on steel'. All plates present as called for.
