The sheets have been folded in half, slightly tanned on outside in folded postion. The last p578 is now not attached at the staple. Good and clean, however.

Neat ink inscription to 1st pastedown is dated 1898 and contemporary slip bound between pastedown and 1st free ep, describes it as a frist edition, whilst inviting suggestions from readers for further editions. Boards bumped at corners, some edges and ends of spine. Scattered foxing and uneven tanning to first endpapers, rear free endpaper partially adhered to pastedown. Pages bumped at edges; creased and frayed silk ribbon bookmark still just about attached. Good tight copy otherwise.
