1 of only 125 proof Engravings, from a limited edition set for the first publication of The Gallery of Portraits, very few left, if any up to this standard of preservation, from a collection that has been well cared for, and would be a centerpiece of any residence. A proof engraving on Indian paper, with incredible detail, by the masters of engraving of the time, from 1837. Extremely scarce, if at all available in this condition, which is exemplary. Folio page, 29 by 43 centimetres, on thick Indian paper, Proof printing, etched Proof bottom left. Technique, stipple, etching, engraving. Inscription content: Lettered with production detail: Engraved by "W. Holl", title, "Elizabeth", continuing: "From the picture in His Majesty's collection at St James Palace" and "under the Superintendance of the Society for the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge", and publication line: "London, Published by Charles Knight, Ludgate Street & Pall Mall East".
