1993 In 1993 the famous Sussex Opera House at Glyndebourne was dark. The dramatic new building was being created, and a limited number of performances were produced at the Royal Festival Hall. Three operas were performed, and the programme book for these shows was produced in the same format as other years, but copies are pretty rare on the market. A superb cover design by Peter Brookes was commissioned, and this copy comes with a special full colour brochure of the Hopkins designed opera house, which is itself a collector's item. There is also a cutting from the Observer about the new house. A brilliant package for anyone interested in this project and the history of Glyndbourne opera house. Classrooms commonly had these beautiful pictorial aids. Very high standard of scientific illustration with all the identification points made clear. Stiff board with a hanging device. It measures 23' x 16". No date, but this looks like the 1930s or 40s. This has little damage but it is not abused in any way. It has been stored for many years in an old plans chest drawer and that has ensured no damage from UV light. Rare and useful, and a charming reminder of how much has changed.
