Said to be probably the best book ever written on the history of the American legal profession. Even though it is published by a well-regarded academic press, the book is virtually unknown, particularly among people in legal education. It is very unfortunate that it is now so difficult to find except in inferior condition. This copy is near fine BUT with graduate's name on front blank end page.and one corner bump.. Author writes about life at Lochbuie Farm, Finch Township,(North Stormont) Ontario at the turn of the 19th century. About like new although a little dull. It is inscribed by author. And it is rare although that does not mean it is an expensive book in high demand.

In 1922 he was offered The Shakespeare Garden by the Shakespearean expert Esther Singleton and published it. in1931 he republished it with an intro by Eva Turner Clark, Founder of the American Oxford Society and a Shakespeare researcher. This is that 1931 edition and thus the second edition. It almost like new in brown library binding. Clean, tight, and very attractive, No date on copyright page. iLLUSTRATED

A SHORT MEMOIR of an Antique Medal Lately found Friars' Walk Near the City of Cork .
An odd book publshed way back in 1819 by Longman's. Longman's is a highly reputable publisher established in 1724. This book is found in a few national and major libraries and just occasionally offered for sale/. It has only 57 pages on quality rag peper, now wood pulp. The author writes that the medal was found in a potato parch and "bought from a poor illiterate man". The Reverend Hincks of Trinity College Dublin wrote (December 1818) that it was identical to one in the possession of Hottinger (Heirich Hottinbger the medallist?) in October 1818. It was of brass and somewhat similar to a medal described in Rowland's Mona Antiqua Restauratata. A fascinating discovery

SIGNED JUSTICE R on the front free end page and thus signed by author Rayne; as Dictrict Commissioner, Rayne was directly responsible to the governor for the administration of justice (divorce, marriage, thievery, homicide) in Ziala District, a region in the north-west of then British Somalia.  This is the first edition of a scarce book that gives an insight into colonial administration in British Somalia early 1900s. Book finishes with an account of author's dealings with the Mad Mullah (1919). That Was the first occasion on which the RAF was used for colonial policing. Group Captain Gordon led a squadron of twelve De Havilland DH9s, transported on HMS Ark Royal.  Book is in GOOD plus condition with 12 plates. The frontispiece is tissue-protected.
