Description:
Pen & Sword, 2020. New book, 64 pages. The Sdkfz 251 halftrack was one of the most versatile armoured vehicles produced by either side in the Second World War. Designed by the firm of Hannoversche Maschinenbau AG, or Hanomag, production ran to over 15,000 vehicles and it was eventually built as twenty-three separate variants serving as not only a personnel carrier, but also a command vehicle, mobile rocket launcher, armoured ambulance and bridge-layer. In his first book in the LandCraft series Dennis Oliver examines the Sdkfz 251 variants armed with the 7.5cm gun, initially used as an infantry support and reconnaissance halftrack and later as a tank killer as the result of Hitler's desperation to arm as many vehicles as possible with anti-tank weapons. Drawing on official documentation and unit histories Dennis investigates the formations that operated these deservedly famous vehicles and uses archive photos and extensively researched colour illustrations to examine the markings, camouflage… Read More

Description:
Rinaldi Studio Press, 2015. New book, 96 pages. The SM Series books will follow a new standardized size format from RSP, which is a smaller and lighter scaled-down version of the famous TANKART books. The new size is 6.5" x 7.5", traditional perfect-bound, with a minimum of 96-pages in length. Each book is wrapped with a special linen stock that is completely unique to the hobby world for a softcover publication, and the interior paper is an eco-friendly 30% recycled stock that gives these new books a great tactile feeling. A core premise of the new series is to explore and redefine artistic and creative finishes for each subject. The SM Series launches with a most unusual and unique project - 1/35 FichtenFoo's Fantastical Fish-shaped Submersible - for a few good reasons. It is an ideal starting point to illustrate this new book concept because the model is defined by its turn-of-the-20th Century styling, yet the author has tackled the paint job with a more contemporary science… Read More

Flying Machines Press, 2005. New book, 192 pages. 12 pages of colour illustrations showing 38 aircraft, 400-plus extraordinary photos, Scale drawings of five aircraft types in both 1/48 and 1/72 standard modeler’s scales. Société Anonyme pour Aviation et ses Dérivés (SPAD) was one of the most important aircraft manufacturers during World War I, but until now the focus of published materials about it has been on its two most famous single-seat designs, the SPAD 7 and SPAD 13. This new book takes a look at SPAD’s less well known two-seat designs, including the SPAD SA series, the widely used SPAD 11 and SPAD 16, and the excellent SPAD 20, which arrived just before the war ended. The latest addition to the Flying Machine Press library, SPAD Two-Seat Fighters of World War I has the most extensive coverage - history, evolution, combat use, photos, color profiles, and scale drawings - of these aircraft ever published. Eagerly awaited by World War I aviation buffs and… Read More

Description:
Osprey Pub Co, 2011. New book, 80 pages, DUE36. When originally conceived, the French SPAD VII and German Albatros D II represented steps away from an emphasis on maneuver in aerial combat in favor of speed and durability - factors that came into play in hit-and-run tactics. At the end of 1916, however, Albatros tried to have the best of both worlds by incorporating the sesquiplane wing of the nimble Nieuport 17 into its D III. The result combined the better downward view and maneuverability of the Nieuport with the power and twin machine guns of the Albatros D II, but at a high price - a disturbing tendency for the single-spar lower wing to fail in a dive. While Albatros (and the Austrian Oeffag firm, which built the fighter under license) sought to alleviate that weakness with various reinforcing measures, the Germans developed tactics to maximize the D III's strengths and minimize its shortcomings. At the same time, the French worked to improve the SPAD VII with more power and a more reliable… Read More

Description:
Squadron/Signal Publications, 2017. New book, 80 pages, SS10245. May 1967 witnessed the first Blackbird flight over Vietnam. When the CIA's A-12 was retired from Vietnam service in June 1968, its place was taken by the Air Force version of the plane with the now more familiar name of "Strategic Reconnaissance" SR-71. Though exceptionally good at what it did, the highly specialized nature of the SR-71 made it expensive to operate and by the late 1980s, the Air Force was ready to shelve the Blackbird in order to fund other projects. Despite the objections of ground force commanders and indeed even against the wishes of Congress, the aircraft were retired in the late 1990s. In addition to the A-12 and SR-71, Lockheed's famed Skunk Works also turned out the M-21, a version of the Blackbird whose sole purpose was to launch D-21 drones. Illustrated with over 200 photographs and detailed line drawings.. Soft Cover. As New. Illus. by Auletta, Vincenzo. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall.

Description:
Hauppauge, New York, U.S.A.: Barrons Educational Series Inc, 2003. New book, 192 pages. The war on the Easter Front was a bloody struggle between two conflicting ideologies, and no one organisation personified Nazism more than the SS, of which the Waffen-SS was the military arm. Using 250 previously unpublished, many of which have come from the albums of individuals who took part in the war, SS: The Secret Archives - Eastern Front depicts the titanic battles between the Waffen-SS and the Red Army on the Eastern Front between 1941 and 1945. The photographs convey an impression of the life of an SS stormtrooper in the frontline during Hitler's crusade against communism. Featuring the actions of such famous Waffen-SS divisions as the Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler, Das Reich, Wiking and Totenkopf, this is a pictorial study of the Waffen-SS in combat on the Easter Front.. Hard Cover. As New/As New. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall.
