Draft of the bill co-sponsored by the Senators from West Virginia and Florida, calling for the establishment of a federal Office of War Mobilization, aimed at preventing the kind of corporate profiteering that had occured in the build-up to American entry into the First World War. A key component of the Kilgore-Pepper bill was ensuring that the members of the War Mobilization office would be federal employees, and not working for defense contractors. The bill did not make it into law, and it was pre-empted by President Roosevelt who established the office by executive order.

Millikan, and many others.

A family copy with an affectionate presentation inscription from Fowler to his son, also named Gene: "To my much-loved son, Gene, and may you know that I am proud of everything you do. Always. From your father, Gene Fowler, Nov. 11, 1937." Gene Fowler, Jr. became a prominent film editor in Hollywood, and directed the cult-classic "I Was a Teenage Werewolf.

Praha: [Nakladatelstvi Vecernic], 1923. First edition. Mark to rear wrapper and last few leaves; lightly rubbed, very good indeed.. 8vo, [62]pp; wrappers. The poet's second book, during his avant-garde period when he was a co-founder (along with Karel Teige and Vitezslav Nezval) of the radical Devestil movement. This copy has been signed by Seifert on the half title page. Seifert was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1984.

Broadsheet, single leaf approx. 11 X 16-1/2 inches, printed in black and red on newsprint. Remarkably well-preserved, fragile, newspaper-sized document produced for union members with the recommendations from the Democratic Party, the CIO, Railway Unions, and the AFL. On the verso is a map of the voting districts in the Los Angeles area.

The anthology includes the first appearance in a book of Fitzgerald's story "The Dance", which was not otherwise included in any of his lifetime books -- it did appear in "Redbook" magazine. Other contributors include George Ade, Sherwood Anderson, Willa Cather, Theodore Dreiser, Edna Ferber, Ernest Hemingway, Fannie Hurst, Elinor Wylie, and others.

Rosenbach for the prominent attorney and major collector Frank J. Hogan, whose bookplate is present. Not to be confused with more common 1924 facsimile edition.
