By David DoarThere was a long time ago, that the plantation owners of the St. James, Santee parish in the low country of South Carolina, would gather together to form a planters club and a agricultural society for both social gatherings and an exchange of new farming methods. All meeting records of the planters club were lost in a fire shortly after the civil war. The agricultural club was reorganized in 1903.
