Gabriel Bodenehr was during this period a successful publisher for maps and prints in Augsburg in Southern Germany. Gabriel Bodenehr the Elder (1664-1758 or 1673-1765) was a German map maker and member of a famous engraver and publisher family of Augsburg. His main work was "Atlas Curieux" first published 1704. A fine decorative engraved map of the,Holy Roman Empire’, published first by the famous cartographer family Nicolaus Visscher in Amsterdam around 1680-90, here published in the atlas by Petrus Schenk Junior in Amsterdam around 1750-55. The Holy Roman Empire is shown with its duchies, principalities and kingdoms with detailed political borders in outline and wash hand color. With many engraved place names, villages, castles rivers, mountains, woods, etc. The map was compiled by Julius Reichelt, adviser and mathematician professor at Straßburg, published in the printing house by Petrus Schenk Junior in Amsterdam. Mounted on paper in the centerfold (some small holes) and on the lower left corner.

Published around 1680-90 in one of the atlases by Nicolaus Visscher in Amsterdam. The map shows Bavaria from Wunsiedel in the north towards Innsbruck in the neighbouring Tirol. Nicolaes Visscher (25 January 1618, Amsterdam – buried 11 September 1679, Amsterdam) was a Dutch engraver, cartographer and publisher. He was the son of Claes Janszoon Visscher. His son, Nicolaes Visscher II (1649–1702), also worked with him and continued the family tradition of mapmaking after his death. Visscher died in Amsterdam in 1679 and was buried in the Nieuwezijds Kapel on 11 September of that year, though a death year of 1709 is maintained by some sources. This decorative antique map shows Eichstett on the lower right side. The beautiful hand colored title cartouche is in the lower left corner. Among them is engraved the city of Eichstett and the castle,Willibaldsburg’. On the top in the middle are some putti with religious symbols surrounding a coat of arms. Two different milage scales are engraved in the lower rigt corner. The map show the region between Altdorf near Nürnberg, Ingolstadt on the Danube in the south. This copper engraving was published in the famous atlas of Bavaria by Georg Philipp Finckh in 1671. Finckh published a large oversize map of Bavaria based on the cartographic source of the woodcut map by Philipp Apian. This is the engraved version in a reduced size of Apian's sheet no.19 showing the area between Mühldorf and Braunau, in the north towards Arnstorf in lower bavaria (Arnstorf in Niederbayern). A highly detailed 17th century map for this area. In good condition, cut close to the margins. Mounted on atlas paper.
