Fitchburg, Massachusetts: Doehla Greeting Cards, Inc., 1950. Octavo. Spiral-bound pictorial wrappers. Five moveable illustrations and two folding pop-up illustrations make this a holiday delight! This is the Santa Baby Boomers remember, fat and jolly surrounded by a world of primary colors and friendly children! There is a quarter size hole in the back page of the book, caused by the removal of a lollipop. It appears the lollipop was included with the book but alas is gone along with the snow on the roof of the house on the cover. The piece of bubble gum is still present in wrapper however.

Alfred A. Knopf, New York, 1940 FIRST EDITION LIMITED AND SIGNED A fine copy of the limited signed edition. Number 246 of 520 copies. Some wear and chipping to dust wrapper at extremities but overall a beautiful copy. Slipcase is worn and soiled but present. Original inked number on slipcase spine matching this volume.

Kansas City The American Bookplate Society 1920 First printing Original white paper cover boards with gilt titling. A near new unopened copy. Light darkening/foxing to endleaves, slight bump to bottom of spine otherwise clean and unmarked. One of 250 copies (stated). Hardcover As New

L. F. Garlinghouse, Topeka, KS Circa 1950. This is a trade catalog of homes to build, profusely illustrated with photographs and floor plans with measurements. The catalog is 40 pages with a house design on each page. Cost estimates range from $3300 to over $8000. A few penciled notes and figures below some of the houses but overall a fine copy with no wear, the text clean and bright. Many modest bungalows but also quite a few large, substantial brick and stone houses.

London & Philadelphia: William Heinemann & J. B Lippincott Co., (1911). A quarto bound in original full limp morocco with elaborate design on the upper cover and spine in gilt. Top edge gilt. Eighteen tipped-in color plates by Charles Robinson as well as many vignettes in halftone. A most unusual format for this title, seemingly a publisher's deluxe binding. Dark leather is prone to fading and this copy has had some professional color restoration and the head of the spine is chipped. Still a most attractive copy of a very rare binding for this title.

Philadelphia and London: J. B. Lippincott and Chatto and Windus, 1908. Octavo, 442 pages, illustrated by T. H Robinson. Beautifully bound in three-quarter leather over green cloth. The spine has gilt titles and rules as well as a pictorial panel with a gilt grape cluster and leaves bordered with a double gilt rule. Top edge gilt. Minor scuffing to the extremities, else a fine copy of an attractively bound book.

London: George Allen, 1903. Octavo. Bound in half vellum over slate blue cloth with gilt floral ornaments on the spine, 228 pages, including index. This is an elegant presentation of John Ruskin's series of three influential lectures. Top edge gilt. The author's thirty-two page preface for the edition of 1871, reprinted in its entirety in this edition, ended thus: "..I am content to leave both life and work to be remembered or forgotton, as their uses may deserve." This volume is an appropriate rememberance..understated and in fine condition.

Roberts Brothers, Boston. 1889. Original blue cloth binding decorated in black with gilt titling. 294 pages. The book is fine with just a trace of rubbing to a few places in the cloth at the extremities. The author is Maria Francesca Rossetti, sister to the Pre-Raphaelite poet D. G. Rossetti. This is an early American edition, the first edition was published in London in 1872. Scarce.

The Edwards Manufacturing Co. Cincinnati, Ohio, 1920 A folio size catalog in original pictorial wrappers. 17 pages, with illustrations in color of buildings and roofs using copper tiles. Very comprehensive with individual pieces illustrated for the completion of a roof, directions for applying a Spanish tile of copper etc. The booklet is detached from the cover at the staples but this is a near fine copy. Beautiful color cover illustration and wrappers. Scarce.

F. Lumachi, publisher. 1902. Florence. Full vellum, limp with leather ties. This is a nice example of one of the Florence gift bindings done around the turn of the century. The front cover is hand painted, titling and decoration in a fine hand. A slight bit of discoloration to the vellum otherwise a clean, unmarked copy. Yapp edges, all ties present.

London: N. A. G. Press Limited, ( 1965). Octavo bound in green cloth with silver titling, 192 pages, including index. A near fine copy in dust wrapper of a classic in its field, reprinted again in 1991.

New York and London: Macmillan, 1904. An octavo, 208 pages, plus publisher's ads. Bound in soft lavendar blue cloth with very attractive ornamentation on both the upper cover and spine. The cover design is comprised of a border of sage green hearts outlined in yellow surrounding an Art Nouveau motif of stylized poppy seed heads and foliage. Gilt titles. Contemporary inscription and engraved bookplate of Elizabeth L. Gould. Gould was the author of Little Women The Play and Little Men The Play, the first theatrical adaptations of Louisa May Alcott's classic tales. The bookplate was designed for Elizabeth Gould by Josephine Bruce, well-know illustrator of children's books. A fine association copy of an Arts and Crafts period American trade binding.

London: George Bell & Sons, 1899. An octavo, 123 pages, including index plus 8 page publisher's catalogue bound in at the back. Bound in terra cotta colored cloth with Art Nouveau ornaments on both cover and spine. Gilt titles and top edge gilt. Nicely illustrated in black and white, this volume comprises a handsome and useful reference on the work of one of the original members of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood. A fine copy of the second printing of the First Edition

McClure, Phillips & Co. New York, 1906 An octavo bound in the original decorated blue/gray ribbed cloth. Minute wear to extremities otherwise clean and bright with no wear or chipping to any of the cover decorations and lettering.

New York: Grosset & Dunlap, (1921). Four volumes, The Tale of Pony Twinkleheels, The Tale of the Muley Cow, The Tale of Henrietta Hen and The Tale of Mistah Mule. Early Reprint editions, circa 1930. All volumes are bound in tan cloth with pictorial endleaves. The rear upper corner of The Tale of Pony Twinkleheels is bumped and The Tale of the Muley Cow has a faint spot of discoloration on the front cover. Else, all volumes are pristine. The pictorial dust wrappers exhibit varying degrees of soiling and wear, with two wrappers having large pieces missing from the flaps. The front covers of all jackets are clean and bright. The set retains the rare original cardboard box that is covered in patterned paper resembling batik. A Famous-Barr department store price sticker is on the box, 59 cents. A nice set, particularly with the box.

Sampson Low, Son and Marston, London. 1870. Nicely bound in half smooth dark green calf and cloth. Six panelled spine with red labels for title and author. Gilt ruling and decoration, blind ruling on covers. Early, tasteful small bookplate on front pastedown as well as a Glasgow binders ticket (J. Carss & Co.) Small octavo, Overall a very pleasing copy.

New York: Boni & Liveright, 1926. Bound in original dark blue cloth ith yellow titles on cover and spine, 319 pages. Patterned endleaves. The lettering on the spine is rubbed and the first few corners of text pages are creased, not affecting the title page or other preliminary pages. Light wear to the extremities. Still remaining a bright, satisfying copy of the First Edition of Faulkner's first novel. Petersen A2a.

Boston: Roberts Brothers, 1882. 12mo. This is a beautiful copy in the original brown ribbed cloth with no wear and the gilt titles bright. Previous owners signature and "Xmas 1939" written on front endpaper. Laid in (and now) stuck to the rear pastedown is a portion of an envelope flap for the Strandway Book Shop in Boston.

Santa Fe and Los Angeles: Passenger Department, (ca. 1900). Tan pictorial wrappers, printed in green with gilt. A nice travel book by one of the leaders in the American Arts and Crafts movement. Illustrations from nature and photographs by Louise M. Keeler. Wrappers chipped along edges, closed two inch tear on fore-edge otherwise clean and bright. Keeler and his wife Louise were leaders in the Arts and Crafts movement in Berkeley. Their home was designed by Bernard Maybeck and the philosophies expounded by Keeler were published in his rare book The Simple Home in 1904.
