Book is in fine condition and has never been read: pages are clean and bright. This first printing trade edition is signed on the title page by the author. Peter Carey is an Australian novelist and short story writer. He is one of only two writers, the other being South African born J. M. Coetzee, to have won the Booker Prize twice. In May 2008 he was also nominated for the "Best of the Booker Prize". He has also won the Miles Franklin Award three times, The Commonwealth Writers Prize twice, and many other awards.

Motherless Brooklyn won the National Book Critics Circle Award for Fiction, The Macallan Gold Dagger for crime fiction, and the Salon Book Award, and was named book of the year by Esquire. Lethem is also the winner of the MacArthur Genius Grant in 2005.
