First edition, so stated, in the publisher's blue cloth with black spine lettering, octavo, pp. xi, 244. Several ghostly, unobtrusive brown tape shadows on front and rear endpapers, as though old magazine or newspaper clippings have been removed by previous owner or simply dropped away as the tape dried out across the decades. No residue or stickiness of any kind. Additionally, the fore-edge of the upper board protrudes slightly farther than the fore-edge of the lower board, as in an overbite. Dust jacket light wear at spine ends. GOOD and sound withal.

Edition limited to 100 copies printed on Japanese Vellum, of which this is number 58, octavo, pp. 178. Publisher's flexible boards with sewn spine left exposed intentionally. GOOD condition with some shelf and handling wear. Dust jacket FAIR only. All four jacket flap tips are clipped internally. Previous owner may have clipped the flap with the price and then decided to clip the other three flap tips to match (?) Jacket discolored from a century of sliding around shelves prior to our application of removable protective mylar.

Publisher's green cloth with upper board yoke and laurel decorative device within single-ruled white border, octavo, pp. 332 plus pp. [4] advertisements. Tissue-guarded frontispiece and 11 plates inserted in the text as called for. Previous owner small book plate on front pastedown. Foxing on rear blank endpaper and pastedown, along with a thin vertical line of offsetting from a book mark or clipping of some sort that was laid in at the rear long ago. Upper board fore-edge protrudes farther than lower board fore-edge, as in an overbite. GOOD condition, withal. Clean and unmarked internally. See BAL 18235.

Previous owner name in a small hand on front pastedown. Spine lettering faded away. FAIR-only owing to a small triangular-shaped loss of the cloth on spine (see our image number 2). Nicks and shelf rubs at spine ends and board tips. Note also that the text contains a derogatory racial term that some readers may find upsetting.

Nicely done up in red cloth with gold spine lettering, quarto, pp. 168. Beautiful color photographic end papers. Inscribed by the photographer in a hurried hand on free front end paper verso. Richly illustrated.

Phoenix dust jacket pattern by Enid Marx. Jacket spine a bit faded by sun and with an old price sticker inside front jacket flap near bottom. This unique copy from the personal collection of renowned American poet and Founder of the Cleveland Poetry Center, Lewis P. Turco, with his signature and date on the free front endpaper as well as his tasteful private library seal embossed at bottom corner of title page.

Some creasing at lower page tips up to about page 4, else Very Good. Dust jacket just a bit of shelf wear at spine ends and flap fold tips. Jacket also shows old price sticker shadow and shelf rub discoloration more readily than if publisher had chosen a darker color than white. Jacket now in removable protective Brodart.
