NY: Harper & Brothers; (1918). First Edition . Hardcover. Very Good/No Jacket. First printing (publisher's code "A-S"), variant binding, in a smaller format than the more common first edition in dark green cloth. Bound in flexible leatherette maroon boards. Very good, the glassine wrapper is not present. The book has a little wear at the edges of the maroon cloth, mainly along edges of spine and at spine ends. The first three letters of the publisher's name at the bottom of the spine are worn away, and there is slight loss to the title lettering near the top of the spine. The front hinge is just slightly separated after the half title page, but still tight. Endpapers are somewhat browned, although interior pages are still bright. This binding was issued at the same time as the much more common green cloth binding, but most of these were shipped overseas to servicemen.

An oversized, heavy book with blue cloth and gilt lettering, including Japanese characters on the front board. Some wear to boards at corners and edges; top corners slightly bumped. Hinges are tight; no names or other marking in or on the book. Includes map endpapers at rear, many photographs (a few in color); pages are unnumbered. Additional postage will be required for priority and international mailing.

Minor handling wear to the book; the price clipped jacket has a little edgewear. Elaborately signed by the author on the front endpaper.

The spine is slightly sunned, with just a touch of wear to the cloth. The front board is bright and has an illustration of two buckets from a well with small animals inside. Owner's name on front endpaper; top edge of page block is gilt. With 112 illustrations by A. B. Frost; 265 pages plus six pages of publisher's ads. A tight, square, attractive copy.

Boston: Meador Publishing Company, 1940. First Edition . Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. First edition, very good in a very good dust jacket. Owner bookplate on front pastedown, and embossed seal on title page. Newspaper clipping about the author laid in at front, which has darkened the endpapers. The jacket is a little soiled, has small chips at spine ends and corners, and the spine is a little darkened. The former Governor of Oklahoma and member of Congress on the then political situation in the US. Signed by the author at the top of the front pastedown.

Cloth is a little wrinkled in places. Endpapers are darkened as is the case with many UK editions. The colorful blue and yellow jacket has small chips at edges, with some rubbing and little edge tears. The author, a pianist, traveled from Berlin to London the long way around from 1938 to 1942. This is a book about that trip.

Includes 4 color Howard Chandler Christy illustrations, with the frontispiece illustration having a tissue guard.

Very good in original wraps, with $2.95 price on front cover. Black wraps have some rubbing and reading creases, but tight and square with no wtiting in the book. Includes many drawings and photographs, and sections on just about everything one can imagine needing, from utilities to how to score drugs. From the front cover: "A book on how to get the things you need without paying ripoff prices". 350 pages.

Inscribed by the author on the front endpaper (signed "T. Buckley"), and dated in 1982. The conference resulted in a significant reduction of military weapons at the time.
