Issued by the Secretary of War, Simeon Cameron. Ownership copy of Peter M. Osborn of the famous 95th Regiment of New York State Volunteers, also known as the Warren Rifles. Signed by him with that identification in pencil and then again in ink on the flyleaf and the free rear endpaper in these latter cases listing along with the Warren Rifles the command of Col. Geo(rge) Biddle and Gen Burnside's Division, both Biddle and Burnside being famous Union commanders in the Civil War. A used unsophisticated copy, showing wear at the corners, its binding firm still. With the bookstore ticket of Lockwood 411 Broadway, lower right corner front pastedown. A Civil War troop artifact.

Sally Knee, 2006. Limited Edition. Hardcover. As New/As New. Squarish 8vo, printed polished covers in printed dustjacket, unpaginated (32pp), illustrated in color. Scarce 2006 catalog of works by 20 artists that used copies of James Joyce's "Ulysses" to present as gifts to gallery owner Sean Kelly on his fiftieth birthday. This version limited to 100 copies, this copy number 15 and signed by Kelly on the colophon; another 400 copies, unsigned were numbered 101to 500. (Sally Knee as publisher is a play on the artists name.) Among the contributing artists are Laurie Anderson, Christine Borland, and Gavin Turk. Our favorite is Turk's with a nail through a new copy of a Modern Libary edition of Joyce's masterpiece. Sean Kelly Gallery, founded in 1991 in New York City by British-born Sean Kelly, represents established and mid-career artists, particularly with work based in installation and performance art.

I have / turned it into two fields / at Freshwater wh(ich) I shall/ always look upon as a / part of the American continent (and) consider that / I owe to its bountifulness/ Believe me overflow./ Yours faithfully." Miss Thackeray enthusiastically thanks presumably American buyers for their purchase from her of presumably American rights to publish her first novel "My Angel", published in England in 1875. One of 1000 copies printed in Nov 1868, with the erratum slip at page 286-287. On page 97 is the erroneously numbered 7 (instead of 5 corrected later) and on page 224, line 3 of the second stanza is Thy (which in this copy has been corrected in pencil.) Green cloth with gilt-pressed willow upper and blind-stamped lower, gilt to spine, beveled edges. Some piercing of cloth upper right corner front and narrow surface loss at head and foot of spine. Ownership name in pencil dated January 1869 on fly. Pasted onto fly verso across from title is engraved portrait of Lowell from a later publication. Housed in a half-leather slipcase.
