Phelan’s bookplate attached to front paste down end paper. Phelan was Mayor San Francisco and a U. S. Senator and served on the Board of Directors for the Railway. This copy comes was an original cancelled stock certificate for ten shares of stock in The San Francisco and San Joaquin Valley Railway dated May 20, 1895. Near fine condition with only a tiny bit of rubbing to leather extremities and gilt edges tarnished. Dawson’s Bookshop tag pasted to rear paste down end paper and what is probably Dawson’s catalog listing pasted to front paste down end paper between the book plates. Stock certificate in fine condition with “Cancelled” stamp across the center.
