Facsimile of Michelson's watershed study - reproducing his notebook in his own hand- that was the first to measure the speed of light. In 1907, Michelson became the first American to win a Nobel Prize in the sciences. Covers moderately worn about edges. Laid-in is a 4-page brochure from Honeywell presenting the publication with biographical information about Michelson.

Black leather covers press in oval-centric pattern in green which is slighly worn. Slight foxing to a prelim otherwise internals are quite nice. Classic tale of masochistic love.

Novel of a young woman from Indiana who leaves behind the young man she's supposed to marry and at university in Chicago takes up with a professor much older than she who "also wishes to accept her strange ideas about marriage" (according to the dustjacket blurb). Ostensibly, romance fiction, there's little (if anything) romantic in the tale. Curiously the author's treatment of feminism is rather vague, at times unpronounced, but integral to the story: her implied notions of sexuality (there's none in the book) enigmatic, which makes the presentation to Hepburn, given her own sexual enigma, intriguing.
