London: Religious Tract Society A VG copy of this relatively scarce book. Undated but with a tipped in note that this (and others) were given as presents on January 2nd 1851. A lovely little book, written from the perspective that nature and its intricacies were daily evidence of the work of God. With descriptions of water in many forms - from Niagara Falls to dewdrops. In the original decorative cloth binding with gilt design and titles to front board and gilt titles to spine and blind stamped decoration to both boards. All page edges gilt. With numerous black and white engravings. The binding is in very good clean and bright condition, with a little fading to the spine and a little bumping to corners. The original endpapers are present with a little marking and a presentation slip pasted in at the front. The text is clean and bright. Small light book - please enquire if you would like us to assess postage at cost.

London : Longmans, Green, and Co, 1875 A good copy of this nineteenth century collection of fairy stories written by Knatchbull-Hugessen, who was a Member of Parliament, and later known as Lord Brabourne. He dedicates the book to the 'Mothers of England' stating 'because it is to them and to their guidance of the home-life of their children that England has owed her greatness'. The book is in contemporary quarter morocco leather binding, with title label to spine. The leather is worn, particularly on the joints but the binding is currently sound. Cloth corners have wear and the cloth is darkened and grubby to edges. Contents with black and white frontispiece and 7 further black and white plates. Title page with vignette. There is a bookplate to the front pastedown. Endpapers and initial and final pages are spotty. The remainder of the contents are lightly toned to edges but clean. There is a small nick to the top margin of p 151.

London: Houlston and Wright, 1860 A good to very good copy of the large paper edition 'revised' which includes both series of Favourite Field Flowers, and contains 24 hand coloured plates by James Andrews. In the original decorative cloth binding with all edges gilted. The binding has bright boards with bevelled edges and elaborate gilt flower and leaf design. The corners have wear and some cloth loss and there is wear to edges which have slight grubbiness. The spine has a lot of wear to the spine ends, particularly the top, with fraying. It is dulled. Internally there is a birthday inscription to Mary Eggers on the verso of the fep dated 1862 and a loose sepia photograph of Mary Eggers taken by G T Millichap of Liverpool. With fair to good dust wrapper. Undated but 1922 1st edition in this form. The wrapper has a pasted picture and titles to the front cover. There is loss to the top of the spine and edge nibbling at the bottom of the spine and the flap joints and along the top edge of the back cover. It has had some repair. The flaps are quite small but there is no indication that they have been trimmed. The jacket is in a removable protective wrap. The boards have light scuffing and there is wear to edges and the leather corners with leather loss at the tips. The spine has light wear to ends. Contents: frontispiece; title; preface pp iii-viii; contents list ix-xi; directions for plates 1 p; text pp 1-352 with 11 plates. The contents are generally clean with some light spotting - mainly at the top margin - and the occasional mark. There is offsetting from the plates.
