London: Religious Tract Society A VG copy of this relatively scarce book. Undated but with a tipped in note that this (and others) were given as presents on January 2nd 1851. A lovely little book, written from the perspective that nature and its intricacies were daily evidence of the work of God. With descriptions of water in many forms - from Niagara Falls to dewdrops. In the original decorative cloth binding with gilt design and titles to front board and gilt titles to spine and blind stamped decoration to both boards. All page edges gilt. With numerous black and white engravings. The binding is in very good clean and bright condition, with a little fading to the spine and a little bumping to corners. The original endpapers are present with a little marking and a presentation slip pasted in at the front. The text is clean and bright. London : Longmans, Green, and Co, 1875 A good copy of this nineteenth century collection of fairy stories written by Knatchbull-Hugessen, who was a Member of Parliament, and later known as Lord Brabourne. He dedicates the book to the 'Mothers of England' stating 'because it is to them and to their guidance of the home-life of their children that England has owed her greatness'. The book is in contemporary quarter morocco leather binding, with title label to spine. The leather is worn, particularly on the joints but the binding is currently sound. Cloth corners have wear and the cloth is darkened and grubby to edges. Contents with black and white frontispiece and 7 further black and white plates. Title page with vignette. There is a bookplate to the front pastedown. Endpapers and initial and final pages are spotty. The remainder of the contents are lightly toned to edges but clean. There is a small nick to the top margin of p 151.

London: Houlston and Wright, 1860 A good to very good copy of the large paper edition 'revised' which includes both series of Favourite Field Flowers, and contains 24 hand coloured plates by James Andrews. In the original decorative cloth binding with all edges gilted. The binding has bright boards with bevelled edges and elaborate gilt flower and leaf design. The corners have wear and some cloth loss and there is wear to edges which have slight grubbiness. The spine has a lot of wear to the spine ends, particularly the top, with fraying. It is dulled. Internally there is a birthday inscription to Mary Eggers on the verso of the fep dated 1862 and a loose sepia photograph of Mary Eggers taken by G T Millichap of Liverpool. London : Adam and Charles Black, 1904 A good copy of the 1st impression of the 1st edition in the original decorative cloth binding with colour frontispiece and 15 further colour plates by Philip Dadd. The cream cloth binding has gilt titles to the front board and spine with a design in green and tan to the front. Top page edges gilted. The cream has darkened, particularly on the spine, and there is some scuffing to the cloth surface. The back board and spine have some light marking. Corners have some wear, particularly the bottom corner of the front board which has a bump and a cloth fray. Spine ends lightly pulled. The wrap has some crinkling to the top edge and slight marking at the top. It is in a removable protective wrap. Cloth binding in near fine condition with a small bump to the top front corner and some cloth wear to the bottom edge and bottom corner edges. Contents in near fine to fine clean condition with slight toning to page edges.

London, Glasgow, Bombay: Blackie & Son Ltd A good copy of an early edition with colour frontispiece and 7 further colour plates by Frank C Pape. Undated but with a prize plate from Alnwick Parish Church Sunday School dated 1918 to the front free endpaper. Part of the Stories Old and New Series with a pasted picture and decorative border to the front board and elegant decoration to the spine. Decorative endpapers and decorative title page. The binding is sound and reasonably bright, with some pulling to the spine and light marking to the rear board. Slight marking to front board. Contents clean and bright with occasional light marking.

London, New York, & Toronto: Hodder and Stoughton Ltd, 1922 A very good copy in the original red decorative cloth binding with 16 tipped-in colour plates and 8 tinted full page plates by Arthur Rackham. With fair to good dust wrapper. Undated but 1922 1st edition in this form. The wrapper has a pasted picture and titles to the front cover. There is loss to the top of the spine and edge nibbling at the bottom of the spine and the flap joints and along the top edge of the back cover. It has had some repair. The flaps are quite small but there is no indication that they have been trimmed. The jacket is in a removable protective wrap. The binding has blind stamped titles and a gilt design to the front board and gilt titles to the spine. It is very bright and clean with just slight pulling and corner wear. Top page edges green. London: R Ackermann A good to very good copy in contemporary half leather binding with hand coloured frontispiece and 11 further hand coloured plates. Undated but 1824 and part of the World in Miniature series. The binding has gilt-lined raised bands to spine and title and volume labels. Boards are marbled and page edges have matching marbling. The boards have light scuffing and there is wear to edges and the leather corners with leather loss at the tips. The spine has light wear to ends. Contents: frontispiece; title; preface pp iii-viii; contents list ix-xi; directions for plates 1 p; text pp 1-352 with 11 plates. The contents are generally clean with some light spotting - mainly at the top margin - and the occasional mark. There is offsetting from the plates. The frontispiece has slight loss to the top edge; p121/2 has lost the bottom corner tip; and a number of pages have old corner turn creases. Pale blue endpapers unmarked.

The bindings have gilt compartments with titles and volume numbers in gilt and gilt designs in the top and bottom compartments. Boards are marbled. London: R Ackermann A good copy in 2 volumes in contemporary full green calf binding with 32 hand coloured plates. Undated but 1821. The bindings have an oval red leather label at the top of the spine with 'The World in Miniature' in gilt. A gilt design then continues with volume numbers further down the spine. Vol I has lost it's volume number label although the volume number is clear. Boards have gilt lining around the edges with gilt designs at the corners and gilt lines to the inner board edges. The bindings are clean with fading to spines and edges and turned corners. There is some scuffing and light marking to the board surfaces. Both volumes have yellow endpapers and the armorial bookplate of Frederic Fane to the front pastedowns - there is a little splitting at the front endpaper joint of both although the bindings are sound. Undated, but published in 1821. The bindings are matching half calf with marbled boards.
