This a a later edition of the book first published by the Cosmopolitan Book Club and base on the popular 1930 early talking movie "War Nurse" (directed by Edgar Selwyn and starring Robert Montgomery, Anita Page, June Walker and Robert Ame {from Wikipedia}.. Although the book does not ascribe an author, it seems to have been written by Rebecca West. The book is in very good condition for its age (we estimate it was published soon after the original publication). The red cloth cover, with black inset border and title, has significant shelf wear at top and bottom spine edges and front top corner. Age toning on endpapers and the page photo from the movie is lose. There is a smudge at the edge of pages 201 and 205. There are no tears, marks or foxing on the pages

State First American edition. Book and unclipped dj are in excellent condition. Other than an inscription on the first fly-leaf page, we could not find any faults in the book. Unclipped dj has only very minor shelf wear. Full color and b&w photos throughout. From the dj: " Antoine Watteau was born in 1684 and died aged 37. He inspired the Rococo school of painting which became popular during the eighteenth century in France. This volume features the realism of his portrayals of life and fashion in the Court of Louis XIV and the romantic idealism of his rustic 'Fetes Galantes."

Rare first edition, published September, 1905. In excellent condition. It would get a Fine rating except for light shelf wear on covers and shadowing on the inside covers and adjacent end papers. Pages are clear, clean, without marks, tears of foxing. Includes seven photos of relevant individuals, including Wagner. The book seems to be as much about Wagner as this particular opera. From Wikipedia (abridfed): " Gustav Kobbé (March 4, 1857[1] – July 27, 1918)[2] was an American music critic and author, best known for his guide to the operas.He made his career in literary and newspaper work, and contributed articles on musical and dramatic subjects to the leading magazines and periodicals. The only publishing date given is the 1939 copyright date. However, while it has age, it may be published later than 1939. the gift inscription on the inside front cover is dated 1965. There is a rusted paper clip impression on the first title page. Also some soiling on the spine. Otherwise, the book is quite handsome. High quality, thick paper (like rag paper, though not stated), with evocative wood cuts by Thomas Nason in his style and which have the feel of woodcuts.

This appears to be a first edition by the Crowell publisher. The only date shown on the publication page is the 1900 copyright. The twine binding is another indication of great age. Cover spine has been scotch taped over - apparently boards were loose or detatched and repaired. Little wear at cover edges. Inscription on the lower right side of inside front cover. Overall, a good, readable copy of this very rare first edition, first printing, never before published book. Tight binding, pages clean and clear. Age toning at page edges. Top corner of cover and about the first 40 pages pages have bee cut (1/2 - 1/16") and there are on top corner of the last 10 pages and back cover. See photos

This is the first edition form the Scribner series "The Biographical Edition of Stevenson's Works" of the work originally published in 1896.The cover of leather over board still has the bright gilded designs on the front and spine despite much wear and chipping along the edges and spine. The pages are in excellent condition with clear, large print; no tears, foxing, marks, etc.

Appears to be a first edition, first printing. No other editions or printing are shown on publication page. Full of interesting, some weird, photos and descriptions of places to see in Maryland.

This small book is in new condition. It is undated; however, it is stated that it is published on the 10th anniversary of von Braun's birthday. We believe the book is rather unique, as we have not found any other examples for sale. It traces the role of von Braun in the develpment of rocketry. Two pages of photos are included. Text is in English and German.
