Tour of the mediaeval art museum in Fort Tryon Park, Manhattan, constituted from components of European monasteries and housing the Unicorn Tapestries, Robert Campin's Annunciation (c. 1425), sculptures and artifacts; illustrated throughout with color photographs (plates and cuts) and diagrams of each room. 7-1/4" x 9-1/4", printed on glossy stock, very light shelf wear, touch of foxing to end papers, pages unmarked. Bonus with this copy is a laid-in clipping (folded in tissue paper to prevent staining the book) of a 1978 TLS review by Geoffrey Grigson of Margaret B. Freeman's book on the Unicorn Tapestries.

BILINGUAL EDITION ENGLISH-POLISH. 157 pages, of which ~60 are text - introduction and discussion first in Polish, then in English; followed by 95 pages of b&w photos by various photographers, including 70 pages of dramatic before-and-after photos of locations in Poland's demolished capital. Introduction by Polish journalist (and later non-Communist MP) Karol Malcuzynski. Includes table of population and employment restoration and facilities rebuilt in 1945-60, plus plans for 1965. Small square book (~6-1/2" square), gray cloth with age toning, darker gray printed lettering, end papers printed with layout map of Warsaw, cocked, minimal shelf wear, edges and page margins age-toned, paperclip stain to Polish title page. DJ is moderately soiled and heavily worn, with 3/4" chip at heel, smaller chips elsewhere, clear-tape repair along spine where it had disintegrated. Pages unmarked.

Names of former owners Profs. Ann and Warner Berthoff written on front pastedown, gift inscription to her on ffep, underscoring and marginalia by both (hers from two readings 25 years apart) on end papers and throughout. Laid-in clipping from the NYRB Dec. 1985, a review by John Bayley of two other collections of Rilke's letters, conveys with the book.

The International Art Publishing Co.. Hardcover. Fair. 47 pages. No date stated, but likely 1909 edition with NY publisher, "Printed in England". "Dedicated to every child in the Empire." "Pictured" (illustrated) by Gladys Hall with b&w drawings throughout and several color plates. Little book, 4-1/4" x 5-1/2", textured brown boards with red lettering, patterned end papers, stitch of red thread on front board where a peg doll was originally attached; printed on semi-gloss stock. A rare children's classic, not in good shape: doll missing, boards frayed at corners, hinges broken to near-detachment from binding (but one sewn link remains), stains to end papers, a couple of non-professional scotch tape repairs to interior; chips, stains, a few foxing spots and eroded patches on pages. A much-used copy, in which, however, the color plates remain bright and beautiful.
