Publisher's card stock wrappers, octavo, pp. 132. Illustrated with several plates, including one of a then-recently deceased Judge Thomas Mauldin. A newspaper clipping laid in at that plate provides an account of the Judge's heart attack death on 22nd October 1931. FAIR only. Wrappers are quite shelf worn. Many old tide lines (brown water stains but no odors) in this volume.

Publisher's blue cloth with gold spine lettering, octavo, pp. 342 plus author colophon. Black and white illustrations by Barry Martin. Signed by the author on a book plate affixed to front pastedown. Shelf rubs at spine ends and board edges and tips. Lower board tips bumped, as well. GOOD and sound, withal. Dust jacket FAIR-only with chips, short tears, general wear and rubbing around perimeter. Jacket now in removable protective Brodart. "The most Thoreauvian of Jesse's books," according to editor Ed Kuhn (see Richardson, "Jessie: The Biography of an American Writer," New York, 1984, page 363).

Publisher's card stock wrappers, octavo, pp. 136. Illustrated by William Randell. Previous owner name in ink near top edge of free front endpaper. Front cover panel, spine ends, and wrapper perimeter shelf rubbed. This volume would be best read with careful handling, as we can't help thinking that the publisher's gluing process has made it taut to the point that repeated wide opening might cause pages to separate from the binding.

Publisher's brown cloth decorated in black and gilt, 12mo, pp. vii, 152. Tissue-guarded frontis and many other illustrations. "O'BRIEN PURCHASE" stamped in black on front paste-down. GOOD-only with shelf and handling wear. Board tips and spine ends rubbed through. Some old soiling to boards.

A title in the publisher's Old Glory series, in original red cloth with black spine lettering and ruling and upper panel mounted horse and American flag illustration in red, white, and blue, octavo, pp. vii, [viii], 1-298 + pp. [12] ads. Frontis and 7 other full page A. B. Shute illustrations, as called for.

Publisher's dark green cloth with gold spine and upper board lettering, octavo, pp. 146. Black and white illustrations. Printed in Atlanta by Foote and Davies. Previous owner has made some pencil brackets and marginal notations. Old paper clip shadows at top edges of pp. 52-55. SIGNED on the free front endpaper by the author and by then-State Training Union Secretary, Gainer E. Bryan. The light green construction paper dust jacket is POOR with tears at spine ends, flap fold points, and around perimeter. Some of the tears are mended with tape. We have done our best to protect the jacket from further wear by putting it in a new sheet of removable archival Brodart.
