Published in 1998 by Easton Press with leather covers, decorative end papers, 4 raised bands on the spine and a ribbon page marker. With both color and black & white photographs throughout. First edition, 5th printing.Condition:The book is in great condition both inside and out. Clean covers with no scratches or stains. Tight binding with no cracks and no loose pages. The pages are clean with no writing, stains, tears or foxing. Bookplate affixed to the half-title page (the bookplate has been written on: "Dudley Farquhar - A Die-Hard Red Sox Fan"). Overall a very nice copy.

This is a bound volume of "THE YALE COURANT" - a student publication of Yale University. The volume contains nine bound monthly issues ranging in date from April, 1914 to February, 1915. All issues come with their front and back covers. The volume is loaded with photographs, drawings, and illustrated advertisements. This particular volume has a heavy emphasis on sports. Included in the June 1914 issue (the "Baseball Number") are lines from the famous baseball poem, "CASEY AT THE BAT" by Ernest Thayer, as well as lines from the "reply" poem, "Casey's Redemption" (or, "Casey's Revenge") by James Grantland Rice ("James Wilson"). Nicely illustrated copy of "The Yeomen of the Guard" - or, The Merryman and His Maid by Sir W.S. Gilbert with original dust jacket. 1929; Macmillan & Co.; London. The book features 8 color illustrations by W. Russell Flint and "drawings in pen and ink" by Charles E. Brock. The story is a "Savoy Opera" that ran for 423 performances at the Savoy Theatre and was the 11th collaboration between Gilbert and Arthur Sullivan (who composed the music for the opera).Condition:Clean covers and spine; sharp corners; bright gilt lettering on the front cover and spine. Tight binding with no cracks and no loose pages. Clean text pages with no issues found; book label affixed to the front end paper. The front end paper has "747" written in pen...no other writing found. Overall the book is in very good condition. The dust jacket has small pieces missing at the top and bottom edges of the spine, and a larger piece missing at the top edge of the front cover.

This edition features eight full-page illustrated plates, and 11 "plans of battle" maps. From a review: "The heroes of this historical fiction book are two orphaned brothers, Tom and Peter Scudamore. They tell the story of the Peninsular War how they see it through their eyes."Condition:Clean front cover and spine; the back cover has some small, light scratch lines and a small stain at the top-left corner. Sharp cover corners. Tiny cloth tears at the top and bottom edges of the spine. Tight binding with no cracks and no loose pages. The front end paper has an old name written in pencil, and a half-dollar sized piece missing at the top-right corner. The text pages are in nice condition - clean with only initials written in red ink on the title page. Overall the book is in Good condition.

This is a very rare bound volume of the 1st 66 issues of the publication "YOUTH'S TEMPERANCE ADVOCATE" from 1839 to the 1840's. The "magazine" was first published in 1839 (issues 1 and 2) and continued into the 1860's. The issues contain wonderful woodcuts throughout. In addition to the articles, the issues also include songs, cartoons and poems aimed at steering youth away from the consumption of alcohol, and pointing out the dangers and pitfalls of drinking.
