Rising (1859-1920) was a landscape artist born in Auburn, New York near the Finger Lakes. Artistically inclined from an early age, Rising studied with Hudson River painter George Clough (1825-1901). Rising worked in a variety of media including charcoal, oil, watercolor and pencil, and his delicate drawings clearly reflect the inspiration he found in the enchanting landscapes of his native region. Light crease and tear to lower left corner. Minor overall smudging.<br/> <br/>
