The most expensive movie produced at the time and Darryl F. Zanuck's own labor of love, known in the trade as "Zanuck's Folly," as it was largely a box-office flop, despite winning five Academy Awards and nominated for five others. A Chronicle of the political career of Woodrow Wilson (Alexander Knox), beginning with leaving his post as head of Princeton University, running for Governor of New Jersey, and his election, in 1912 as the 28th President of the United States, following through the US's entry into WWI, his canvassing for the US to join the League of Nations after the war, to his stroke in 1919, and the transition of the Presidency to Warren G. Harding in 1921. Filmed in Technicolor. Winner of five Academy Awards, including Best Screenplay and Best Cinematography, nominated for five others including Best Director and Best Actor. Blue titled wrappers, noted as SECOND REVISED FINAL on the front wrapper, rubber-stamped copy No. 143 and production No. 787, dated AUGUST 24, 1943. Distribution page present, with receipt intact.
